Great prices. The problem there is that when you charge only $10 a month, almost anyone can walk in and often, anyone does: Most members are quite Pleasant, but up until the covid-19 shutdown, the establishment was often crowded, leading to Occasionally difficult encounters with some patrons who seem to feel that the rules don't apply to them: Occupying equipment even while resting is a typical example. During the multiple daily "rush hours," there were simply not enough standing/fixed or even free weights to allow for that. As of September 7th, 2020, the new interpretation of the rule seems to be that members utilizing free weights can have them in their area for as long as they want. Others ... stand aside and wait.... for as long as it takes.
The management and Staff I have queried will not intervene to enforce their own regulations. Why have rules when cooperation with them is only voluntary?! Here's a fix: enforce the club rules and install some inexpensive seats where people can sit near the equipment, while resting. Perhaps even a few signs requesting customers to not set up housekeeping on the equipment during large rest breaks would also be appropriate.
LOUD, so-called "music" supplied by MTV. Only, most of the club members aren't 15 to 18 and are far too sophisticated for this kind of offering. Probably that accounts for the wide use of (noise cancelling and other) headsets. Stated another way, imagine imposing my classical music at 40 decibels on the entire crowd. Perhaps management would benefit from looking around and noting how few people actually EVER view the MTV screens. At least Clifford, our former PF's great manager, saw fit to turn the volume down a bit.
And no assault upon the senses would be complete until they added those silly puns like "cleansiderate" and the outrageous silver, purple, yellow, and gray schemes to the mix.
It's probably not that difficult to run a Fitness club once you have invested in the great facilities, the generally pleasant staff who keep the place spotless and the top notch equipment Planet Fitness has. The company just seems to have chosen the hard way out by screwing up the easy stuff.
A well-earned...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA month ago I asked them to put in a work order about a spot on the floor by the back wall mirror that the subfloor is missing underneath the padding and I rolled my ankle and I asked the lady to put in a work order and then a week went by and asked the gentleman that was at the front desk About it and he said he would relay it to the managers so today when I went to the gym I walked in and I seen any person I havenāt seen before I said maāam are you the man said yes I was like Do you know when theyāre gonna fix the floor back there before someone gets hurt she goes I donāt know what youāre talking about so I walk back there with her pointed it out And said I would like to see that fixed and Iāve complained about it and itās a hazard and she said very smart. Everything is up to code here and I said itās not then, so I went to lips cool and started working out and she had the nerve to come stand in front of me and go if you hate Planet Fitness so much why are you coming here and I told her I donāt hate Planet Fitness I like Planet Fitness the reason why I brought it to her attention is because I want things to be right And so she left in front of me and went back to the counter and I was thinking how dare her think that she can just come up and act like that to me as Iām a paying customer so I walked over to her and asked for her superior phone number, and she said Iām not gonna give you their phone number and I said maāam I would like to talk to them because I donāt like the way that you spoke to me and she goes your membership is canceled. You need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBetween the terrible customer service and the theft, I'd leave O stars if I could. They've been charging me when I went to rejoin last year and the manager informed me they did not have a trainer hired at that location but "they were hoping they would in a few weeks." I told her, no thank you, just cancel the membership, she said "okay," I left, never went back, and over a year later they're trying to bill me for services they offered and charged me for but could not provide when I needed them (and I would put money that they were illegally understaffed (at least at that point in time - I haven't BEEN there in over a year because I told the manager I was cancelling due to their lack of necessary staffing, but I don't know how they're doing in that regard now). Both their parent company representatives (ABC Fitness Solutions) and the person running the local Planet Fitness franchise were incredibly rude and offered no solution other than to stop stealing from me.
Before today, I would have highly recommended Planet Fitness when people ask me where I work out. Today, I'd tell them there are a ton of places to work out locally, but whatever you do, DON'T go to the Planet Fitness in Belmont. During my most recent experiences with them, they were understaffed, what floor staff they had didn't know how any of the equipment worked, the manager just told me "okay" when I told her I was cancelling instead of giving me the appropriate paperwork. I would NEVER feel comfortable working out at a company showing such disregard for...
