Best lounge I've ever visited. Stopped there with my family this past weekend as we were in town visiting. The selection was great, the lounge was very comfortable, clean and inviting, and the owners were the friendliest most genuine hosts I've ever seen in a cigar lounge. We live about 3.5 hrs away but my family and I will make an excuse to visit Blue Ridge, GA and this lounge at least once every few months.
This was our first time to the lounge and our experience was excellent. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in by both George and Iraima. I'm not a super social person so it takes someone very genuine and sweet to make me feel comfortable during that first interaction, and they were exactly that. George nicknamed me The Viking within the first 10 seconds I'm a big red head with long read hair and white/red beard and long scar running down from my hairline to the bridge of my nose. So, the name fits :)
George showed us to the humidor asked us if we needed any suggestions and then left us to explore. The humidor doesn't have near the breadth of selection that I've seen in other lounges, but it doesn't need to if everything you have is quality. That's the case with this humidor. They may not have had some of my regulars, but what they had was excellent. Don't mistake this for them having a small selection. Again, plenty to choose from and nothing you'll be disappointed in. Just don't expect a humidor the size of a CI, Monte Cristo or Diamond Crown lounge. After about 5 minutes of browsing, Iraima came in and was very helpful in asking us what we like and did a great job of balancing the act of suggesting great cigars without pushing anything specific. Also, her beautiful Cuban accent told us we should probably listen to her suggestions! I'm an avid smoker and know what I like, but I'm always open to hear the opinion of another smoker and try something new.
We found some great cigars, got some coffee, and sat down in the lounge. I used to travel a good bit for work and would stop in a local lounge of the city or town I was in. I've visited a lot of lounges. Most lounges I visit tend to fall heavily on either being too upscale that they're a bit stuffy and pretentious or so laid back that it's a bit sloppy and trashy. This lounge was neither. It was extremely comfortable, extremely clean, extremely welcoming and provided excellent customer service. Also, that kind of environment attracts the best of cigar smokers, so all the folks in the lounge were awesome to hang out with and have some great conversation. George and Iraima made it a point to come sit with us and chat a bit when they were not busy working the shop. Again, just excellent, genuine down to earth people, but very professional and very good customer service making sure you had a clean ash tray, complementary chocolate for pairing and plenty to drink or anything else you needed to fully relax and enjoy yourself.
The coffee. Oh man, the coffee! We had an americano coffee, expresso and latte and we kept passing them around amongst each another because they were all so good! I think your palate adjusts to your circumstances and when you're in a positive, relaxed environment everything tastes better, from the coffee to the cigars and even the "water" Iraima brought me. The environment was just so good, it made everything else better.
It was my 50th birthday so I splurged on a Plasencia Alma Fuerte Hexagono. One of the most enjoyable smokes I've ever had at one of the best lounges I've ever visited. Thanks to George and Iraima for welcoming in the Old Viking and his family to your wonderful lounge. WE...
Read moreThis place was great. We went out of our way to stop by, mostly because of the catchy name, but what I found was so much more. The owner was super nice and appreciative of all patron, the cigar selection was great and the prices were very reasonable, but the atmosphere was the best part. No alcohol which mean no rowdy customers, this place is very laid back and calm. Sit around the fire, or make use of their house guitar, inside and outside seating, and you have to try their house blends if you're a cigar fan. George was very accommodating and his wife even went out of her way to go and get me a t-shirt in my size. He was knowledgeable and just good to chat with about the area and their experiences so far with the business. It is located just off of the main tourist strip so it didn't feel over burdened with foot traffic walking by to poke around and disturb the vibe. If I ever find myself within an hour or so of this place again I will definitely go out of my way to...
Read moreSmokey Bear Cigar is an impressive place to visit. I have been smoking for over 30 years and have been to many cigar bars, all over the world, but in my humble opinion, this place is the best, by far. I met George and Iraima last week and already feels like I have known them for decades. The ambiance and serenity in their bar are absolutely amazing. You are greeted by one of them the moment you walk in, and they let you decide if you want help right away or if you just want to browse on your own. And even if you do not buy but have questions, they are ready to share their knowledge with you over a Cortadito or a Cafe con Leche. Their attention and service to their customers is second to none. You cannot help but come back, light up a cigar, kick back and relax. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat and will return every chance I get. Thank you, George and Iraima and blessings for...
