I had a very nice experience with this tour bus company. I hope this review will be particularly helpful for parents. I was traveling by myself with my 2 year old, and bought a one-day hop-on hop-off pass. I was between this company and the Trolley, but ultimately went with Boston Sightseeing for a few reasons. First, my toddler loves double-decker busses and was so excited to ride on one. Second, I was a little concerned about ease of stroller access in and out of the trolley, so went with the bus. This was the correct decision, as maneuvering our travel stroller on and off the bus was a breeze - I didn't have to remove my son from the stroller to get on and off, and when I did take him out so he could enjoy the bus ride, I didn't need to collapse the stroller. Third, their stops were a little fewer in number, so the overall ride was shorter, which I appreciated having a small child with me. I didn't feel like I needed any other stops, as the ones they stopped at were close in proximity to most everything you might want to see. During the ride, the tour guide offered to stop at each and every stop, but if there were no takers and no one to pick up, we moved on to the next stop. The tour guide was also attentive to us and other guests. It was extremely hot that day, so my son and I stayed downstairs to avoid the direct sun. However, it was pretty hot downstairs without the AC on; the driver and tour guide quickly offered to turn it on for me to alleviate some of the heat, which I greatly appreciated. I think it would be helpful if they had some sort of tracking tool or app like city busses do so you can see how far away the nearest bus is; however, absent a feature like that, I did call their main office line a few times to let them know what stop I was at and to see how far away the nearest bus was. On each occasion, the person answering the phone was helpful and courteous and provided accurate information. I would definitely use them again, especially if traveling with a...
Read moreThe staff was wonderfully attentive and helpful, I do wish to give them kudos for trying their best to give us a good day.
The primary red loop is the downtown double-decker bus and it does have a live tour guide; ours was very charming and fun to listen to, though the amount of information he managed varied a lot depending on how cooperative traffic was as we passed different sites.
The orange and purple loops are on a small shuttle bus so it's very hard to see anything the (recorded) guide says.
There are not nearly enough buses and/or staff to provide a reliable on/off service however, because there's too much time between loops.
If you call in to customer service, they will get a bus to your location to pick you up and keep you appraised of their arrival time.
Obviously you should not HAVE to call in to a hop-on service, but again, kudos to the staff on the ground for working around a...
Read moreWaste of our time and our money. Tour was only a small route around downtown area - they don't run the other 2 routes they advertise, - so you think you will see all these points advertised, but you don't . You only get 8 "sites" at total. ( did not know this until I asked when it goes to the other routes. The tour is a prerecorded monotone recording and the "tour guide" aboard who only speaks to tell of hop off points mumbles. You can not hear or understand what he is saying. only one bus was running, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY we got off and ended up paying for another tour company. - we spent $120. for a whopping 25 minute tour that was not even...
