Our family had the pleasure of staying in an executive king suite with a double queen connector. From the moment we arrived (during a driving rainstorm courtesy of Hurricane Elsa), we knew this stay would be exceptional.
The valet attendants were attentive and gracious, helping us with our (many) bags and guiding us to local restaurants for a late lunch. The sun came out just in time to attend the Red Sox game and the attendants gave us simple to follow directions for the subway, making it a breeze to get to the game in plenty of time. One neat touch was the Red Sox logo is projected onto the porte cochere entrance - fun to see after a Red Sox win.
The front desk check in staff was welcoming and informative, providing a map of the city and answering all of our questions. It was our first time in Boston in over 20 years and the first time with our kids. I highly recommend using the link to secure your credit card ahead of time as it reduced the check in time to mere minutes.
Our room was spacious, clean and well-stocked with amenities. We felt completely comfortable and had everything we could need including a personal packet with sanitizers and a mask.
The location is unbeatable. Right outside the gates to the Boston Garden, we were steps away from the Freedom Trail and a stroll to Beacon Hill and Newbury Street. Weather permitting, everything was within walking distance and there is also a green line subway stop just steps away. Very convenient.
In addition to being a wonderful hotel room to rest our weary travelers, the hotel offered chilled beverages in the lobby (sparkling waters) and decorated sugar cookies in the late afternoon. On Friday and Saturday evenings, they offered a casual gathering that shouldn't be missed! Perfect bite-sized hors d'oeuvres (beef tartar tacos and goat cheese and honey crostini among them) plus fabulous beverages. The service staff was engaging and conversational, took the time to introduce themselves and offer suggestions for meals and activities, and clearly has a great rapport with the Four Seasons residents.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, in addition to the coffee shop where they make the tastiest oat milk lattes and hot chocolates with fresh pastries (fruit muffins, scones, croissants), the Four Seasons offers a full breakfast with omelet stations, fresh squeezed juices, and more pastries in the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The manager made sure we had comfortable seating and offered any guidance we might need for the day. The omelet station was fast and made a great breakfast to fuel up before the long day. Do not miss this breakfast! And never miss the coffee shop with the friendliest baristas around.
One neat thing, in addition to the beverages and hors d'oeuvres on Saturday night, was the freshly popped corn and movie box candy they offered for our kids to have as treats in the room to watch Netflix after dinner. Such an unexpected treat for the kids and so thoughtful.
This was the third and final stop on our trip. All of our hotels were highly rated but none other compared to the professionalism and hospitality shown to us by the Four Seasons in Boston. Probably one of my favorite hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in.
Try to include a weekend on your trip because the extra perks and amenities make...
Read moreFirst time in Boston, First time in USA and first holiday abroad in a long, long time, we wanted to go all out luxury. An 11th hour chat with a colleague who advised us to stay in the Back Bay Area saw me change hotels to the Four Seasons. The location is perfect, directly across from the Boston Public Gardens and our room choice reflected this. The hotel is best described as a big modern box with the rooms smaller boxes within it. I’ll be honest, reading the hype about Four Seasons, I was expecting old school grandeur in the entrance and the public areas but there was none. Arriving, you go from the car drop off through a set of doors into the foyer and are met straight ahead by the reception desks. It’s a modern, stand up check in. I honestly felt that we’d entered the back door of the hotel! We’ve stayed in some lovely, five star and deluxe hotels in the past and my expectations for this standard of entrance and foyer were not met. (The hotel has a distinct lack of public space, there are one or two seats in the foyer but no large lounge area. A coffee shop and small restaurant/bistro are on the ground floor. The hotel and the room were immaculately clean. We went with a front facing Deluxe Garden View Room with One king bed. The view was lovely, as we went in October the colours of the trees across the street were beautiful. Room itself was not huge, but comfortable with a nice table and chairs at the window. The bathroom was small but well appointed with a shower and bath. Staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating, allowing us an earlier check in and late check out plus giving us access to the hotel amenities until we left at 5pm. This included an internal courtyard which we viewed but looked a bit windy so we didn’t go in. As we only had two days and a night in Boston we wanted to explore the city so didn’t spend much time in the hotel and never got to see the pool. |We had in room dining on arrival for a late lunch which was very nice in the form of a club sandwich to share. |On the Saturday morning I joined executive chef Patrice Martineau for the “Run Club” a fantastic experience seeing beautiful parts of the city on a run which is free for guests. One of the most memorable experiences of any hotel stay. Sadly we didn’t get a chance to experience the Chef’s team’s amazing breakfast as there was a 30 minute wait when we arrived at the restaurant, which surprised us for a hotel of this standard, we’d never been asked to wait for breakfast before. The restaurant manager insisted he could get us in, but the moment had passed and we decided to grab something externally and explore Boston. This led to a very accommodating reduction in our bill which was extremely nice of all concerned. We were extremely grateful for the kindness and level of service by all staff, the location was perfect to explore the city and the hotel is immaculate. In summary, comparing with other luxury hotels we’ve been in, we had higher expectations. We felt it was overpriced for a box in a box room, a disappointing 30 minute wait for breakfast and a lack of public areas to sit and relax, however the staff and location could not be surpassed. Would we stay there again? Yes… if there was a deal on the room rate… but we would look at other...

Was very nice but wish there was a little healthier options for snacks for the kids like juice boxes, milk or fruit.|+Cookies and lemonade in the lobby at 3:30|++Hotel guests get free barista made drinks until 10:30 at the coffee bar, which was a lovely way to start the morning. The nightlight in the bathroom is the perfect dimness for a small hotel room.|+headphones in the well equipped gym to listen to music while you're on the treadmill|+location was excellent||Cons:|-We didn't get a welcome drink|-There was no cleaning cloth for your glasses. I requested it from housekeeping in the am because i had forgotten mine and had to call for it again later. Still no cloth. Then i stopped a room attendant in the hallway to ask and then later the pool attendant. It seemed like a huge deal to get this small thing. Hate that i had to keep asking over several days. Other FS would just leave them out for you when they saw you had glasses. Apparently they were low in stock. Either that or we didn't rate.|-downstairs restaurant was disappointing. Clam chowder was just meh. quincy Market and James Hook were better and half the price. Beef slider patties were SUPER dry on a dry bun. This made for dry burgers my kids didn't want to eat and was way overpriced.|-seems like there was a lot of wasted space in the lobby area especially since there was occasionally a restaurant on the second floor that opens when the downstairs restaurant is closed. Strange that it wasn't a fancy bar or similar. Also, the cookies and lemonade were on a tiny bar cart on the side of the lobby when i feel like it could have been moved to the area in front of the coffee place, since it doesn't ever open again after 11. I feel like this place needs a quick breakfast or snack pick up place to grab something before you walk around the city. Most of the pastries in the coffee shop were sold out in the mornings. We went around the corner to grab breakfast sandwiches from Mike & Patty's...
