Fenny’s Salon is a hidden gem that Boston is so lucky to have.

From pricing to experience, Fenny was 10/10. Today I went for the first time for a perm and I had the BEST time.

To start Fenny’s booking process is extremely easy to use and her pricing is transparent and displayed before you even book services. You could probably find services 1-2 days in advance, which is pretty unheard of in Boston! Fenny trusts new clients like me to respect her time, so she doesn’t even ask for card details before an appointment. Though she books back to back, Fenny takes her time with you and makes you feel like a star. Her entire salon is hers and hers alone, so you really do get the VIP treatment.

You also really cannot beat an old school Chinese hairstylist who’s been in the game for 44+ years. I received a perm from her and it was legit the best I’ve ever had and I’ve been getting perms for 4 years now. Fenny is TALENTED. Like, seriously talented and could cut/color/perm/style your hair with a blindfold on—something I’d argue is unique to who she is as a person and how long she’s been in the game.

Even though she’s been in hair professional for 44+ years, you’d never guess from her prices. She’s a humble, hardworking woman who puts customers over herself. I mean, $25 for a haircut and $88 for a perm?!?! That’s unheard of in Boston, but even more unheard of when we’re talking the level of talent and skill as Fenny. Easily she could be charging much more, but she doesn’t. Fenny LISTENS and is AMAZING with taking reference images and translating them to your hair.

Lastly the atmosphere was just perfect. She’s the only stylist in the whole shop, so it’s the VIP treatment. She also has the sweetest dog Bella who Fenny loves with all her heart and it’s absolutely adorable to see. Bella is as much part of this salon as Fenny, and together they define Fenny’s Salon.

Not only is this place an excellent small business that’s been around for 30 years, it’s a story of a strong independent woman who immigrated here from China to make it big. It was an honor getting my hair done by Fenny and I strongly urge others to try her out too. You won’t be disappointed.

Immediately upon entering the shop, you’re greeted by Bella excited to see another customer. I wanted something simple, a straight cut which Fenny did in a quickness. We skipped the washing and shampooing although it is offered as her services. As she was combing and prepping my hair, I neglected to tell her I had an undercut. She offered to clean it up (which honestly I didn’t plan to do anything with it) but she did a great job with it. My hair was long and needed some weight off of it, plus the ends were dry and dead due to me playing a lot of beach volleyball. She even had recommendations to help with my hair care when I play for hours under the sun which I appreciated. Within 30 mins I was in and out of her shop, she doesn’t rush you out or try to convince you to do other things other than what you want to do. Prices are affordable and she offers options to pay for her services. Personality is bold and such a welcoming and happy environment. She doesn’t need all the fancy things that you see in other hair salons. Peep the before and after pictures. I definitely recommend her, she gets the job done and is affordable for you....
