I am a loyal Coppa Gluten Free Night customer. We have not missed a single one in the past four months, and I am also a devoted guest across the whole restaurant group. We always leave so happy and content, but this time was truly horrible and honestly heartbreaking, as someone who looks forward to them every month.
When I changed the reservation earlier today to 5:15, the host confirmed it with me. Then I got a notification it had been changed to 5:45 instead. I ignored it at the time, assuming it was just an honest mistake, but unfortunately that ended up setting the tone for the night.
For the first time ever, the service was disappointing, and even worse, the food was too.
The spaghetti vongole had absolutely no flavor at all. It was surprising how bland it tasted, and it even looked that way. There was no salt to be tasted in the pasta, and I had to ask for it at the table. I also wanted to ask for seasoning, which is something I never imagined I would need to do here. It tasted like nothing more than plain pasta with a hint of butter or dairy, and that is as far as it went.
We also ordered the zucchini pizza, which has always been my favorite. I always ask for light cheese, and I repeated light cheese for every appetizer, which was done, and again for the pizza. In the past, I have ordered it this way at least half a dozen times, and it has always been perfect. This time, it arrived drowning in cheese. It was so heavy and overwhelming that it felt like a completely different pizza from the one I love. This pizza was meant to be shared, but I did not eat a single slice. I was going to send it back, but the person I was with was too hungry to wait, so we did not.
What saddened me even more was the service. I have always had the kindest and most attentive servers here. I have had several different ones over the months, and every single one has been wonderful. This time, I had to wave and call for my server over and over again. I do not even want to assume this, but he was almost intentionally ignoring us. Not once did he check to see how things were. It was exhausting, and it felt so unlike the warmth I have come to expect.
I left deeply disappointed and genuinely surprised that this happened at Coppa. It was the complete opposite of the experiences that always made me feel so...

After hearing that Coppa has some great pasta, I recently took a visit for dinner. However, the overall experience was utterly disappointing. We came in with a reservation, and despite my VIP status on Resy, they gave us the worst table at the restaurant. There were clearly three empty tables by the window side, yet they gave those away to Caucasian groups later. There were barely enough space to place my legs, and we were constantly surrounded by people walking as it was a spot with the heaviest foot traffic. I wasn’t looking for a special treatment, but it seemed like the people at the host stand were discriminatory against the only non-caucasian group at the restaurant. I hate to pull out the race card, but this was the first time I’ve felt discriminated throughout hundreds of restaurants I’ve been to in Boston.
Their terrible service afterwards also made me confirm my belief that they were discriminatory. Our server who took our order never returned to check on our table and we didn’t get our drinks. Other groups who came much later got their drinks immediately, but we never got ours. Without a single word or an explanation, one of the servers also essentially through the appetizer dishes on our table. They were clearly oblivious to the crumbling customer experience, and until I finally pinned down one of the servers/manager, we had to wait in silence to express our dissatisfaction.
We ended up leaving the restaurant as soon as we got the pasta. Their pasta was good, but not as good as the hype. While the manager refused to accept our payment, we eventually paid via their online pickup portal. This experience may not pertain to some groups of people, but based on my numerous dining experiences in Boston, I would highly suggest...
Read moreWow so small! Not their fault, but tables are so close to each other you get lost in two different conversations... my fiance pasta came out 20 mins after mine.. yeah we were sharing but the table next to us who ordered after us received all three of their pastas before mine. I noticed one of them I ordered so is that why ? Looks like a dish you can whip up in 5 mins no issue! The Oysters were good but they were not chilled at all. It was room temp. Flavor was pleasant but didn't knock your socks off. Presentation as gorgeous though. Just needed to be colder ...The Arancinis were very beautifully presented and prepared, but the tomato sauce underneath was awful!! Metallic salt less, flavorless .. it ruined them. The evoo with the bread was very pleasant. Wasn't bitter like most evoos so that was uplifting. The server took the wine list away after we ordered one cocktail to start... We were going to order wine, but it was a no, with the attitude and lack of attention to upselling .. The Gemelli was amazing .. the most flavorful packed dish they have for sure. The meyer lemon was a huge compliment. The Bolo• was flavorless so boring , needs finishing salt, more rustic italian seasoning education needed. The head chef needs to oversee and taste the Cooks food who are recreating the dishes because this restaurant had far more potential then we recieved that evening. Drinks were served cold, fast and beautiful crafted. Dessert...
