I so badly WANT to love this nail salon because it is located 1.5 blocks from me and is very clean... but I have been getting gel manicures here for 5 years and they are average at best. I have never left a negative review before because I want this business to do well - it is the only nail salon in the Seaport neighborhood and it is convenient for me. But, I leave this salon disappointed 100% of the time and maybe some honest feedback can help them improve.
Their manicures are sloppy, and this is because the technicians are rushed to finish within the allotted time. I wish I had the option of paying for extra time to make sure the manicure is done well. What is wrong with their manicures? They don't shape nails well. They don't file nails evenly (my square/coffin-shaped edges are always at a SEVERE slant... I'm literally shocked that the technicians don't notice or correct this issue on their own). They glob on the polish so that they can cover the nails with only 2 coats of polish. This leaves the polish looking clumpy and uneven. Often their polish seems old and thick. It's not uncommon that cotton/dust/other debris cures encased in the polish. As the appointment nears its end, a (?)manager usually comes by to remind the tech that her next client will arrive in 15 minutes. So obnoxious. Recently I complained that the polish was uneven and I was told that next time I should pay for a complete set of fake nails because they will turn out better. Anyone can paint perfectly shaped, perfectly smooth fake nails. I'm paying $65 because I want a professional to paint my natural nails.
When I do my own gel manicures at home (I own all of the necessary equipment - thanks COVID), they come out BEAUTIFULLY! The nails are perfectly shaped and evenly filed; the gel is applied in thin coats for a natural and even looking finish. The only problem is: I hate painting my own nails because I can't do it until I put my toddlers to bed, and I'm exhausted.
Miniluxe needs to allow their nail techs to spend more time with each customer. If they don't want to change the allotted amounts of time, then they should change their prices so that we get what we pay for (a sloppy manicure at a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible experience. Totally ruined my nails and refused to accept responsibility. Do NOT go here if you want beautiful nails.
Walked in and requested next day appointment for Builder Gel refill with gel polish on top. They made an appointment for me at 6pm following day.
Arrived the next day and they were running late. Had me wait until about 620pm. Started removing my polish without confirming what service I wanted done. Never asked me shape or length preference.
Removed my builder gel without even confirming I wanted it removed. (I had a migraine waning and assumed they were starting fresh and didnāt question it.) Aggressively removed builder gel tearing multiple long natural nails that were healthy and unbroken.
Removed the tip on my one nail without explaining that they wouldnāt replace it!!!! When I asked him (4) times to add a tip he waved me off and finally said āno, we donāt do that and donāt worry you wonāt pay for it.ā
They didnāt trim my cuticles, push them back, oil them, remove my hang nails, or use any lotion on my hands. My hands were completely covered in powder by the time they were done.
When I expressed to the woman closing me out that I didnāt understand why they didnāt do tips, why they didnāt communicate that they donāt do builder gel, or why they would have removed all the gel and the tip without confirming with me the service- she said it wasnāt communicated to her what service I wanted and that a gel manicure appointment had been made and she had no control over that.
When I showed her my nails and the length of the middle finger nail comparatively to the other nails she waved it off and said āitās slightly off on length,ā refusing to admit how different the lengths were and minimizing my feelings.
Said she would give me half off and that she still had to charge me since it was past 7pm and he had to be compensated for his time. They started late and were running late! It wasnāt my fault he stayed past 7pm.
Literally one of the worst nail experiences of my life. I cried leaving the salon. Donāt go here; save your money for a salon thatāll do it correctly and that will make it right when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been visiting MiniLuxe Seaport for all my (not too frequent) nail services for the past year or so. On the plus side, Iāve found that the polish is always long-lasting with the performance polish and neatly done. However, it can be hit or miss depending on which technician you choose. Iād suggest getting the master technician and/or getting a recommendation and then sticking with a technician you like! One technician from a few months ago didnāt trim my toenails very well on the sides and left an ingrown portion in after starting my appointment 15 min late when I was on a tight schedule between work meetings. My visit this evening with a male technician was also sub-par in that the clippers pinched the skin under my big toe not once but twice (ouch!). He then proceeded to apologize profusely and tell me I have abnormal skin under my toes (this is the first time Iāve been clipped, didnāt need to hear the excuses). The massage was more of a rushed slather and not a relaxing rub. On the other hand, I have also had some outstanding technicians here so itās very dependent on whom you get. I also commend the front desk for offering me a free premium upgrade to compensate for the slip ups today. All in all, I will be coming back to select technicians, but I would like to see more consistent service across all staff for the...
