Resolution: After filing for BBB complaints and reaching out to the district manager, this issue has been resolved not only by refunding the whole bill, but also offered to host us the mecha way, meaning, with some food on the house. I appreciate the customer service and the prompt response from the District Manager.
We were a large group dining at this Mecha location. When we settled our bill, we did not double check if there were any mistakes. We dined in on 1/30, we were about 10 people. We noticed the mistake only on 2/3 when spitting the bill by Venmo.
The mistake is an overcharge on appetizers that were supposed to be happy hour prices and an alcoholic drink. We got seated down about 15min before the end of the happy hour (6pm) and said we would place the order for appetizers first, which we did. Once the order for appetizers was placed and started being served, we ordered drinks followed by entrees. I ordered a virgin drink but was served an alcoholic one which the server said we could keep and that he would make a new one.
That’s 2 total mistakes:
Appetizers were charged at full price instead of 50% off as advertised (happy hour is 3pm to 6pm) an alcoholic drink + a virgin drink were also charged.
I called and talked to an unpleasant manager who seems to have little customer service experience. When I got impatient, his response was to hang up on me. This manager should get training on hospitality.
He said he will have to call back as he stated he was not present the evening of our visit and had to check with the server. He called back and his response was: Camera was checked and we indeed ordered a virgin drink. But he claims we ordered drinks first before the appetizers, suggesting we lied. He also stated that in order for him to allow me to look at the the camera footage, I would need to file a police report. He asked how he could settle the issue on the drink only since he claimed he couldn’t do anything about the appetizers since we paid after the happy hour. His offer: a $20 gift card for the drink.
The evidence is clear on the bill: the order was placed at 5:52pm.
Clearly, this restaurant does not value their customers and prefers to keep a small profit over honoring their advertised deal and...
Read moreIt was our first time trying Mecha, and we were disappointed with the service we received.
We were a group of eight people and waited 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday, which wasn’t too bad. However, once we were informed that our table was ready, the hostess made us wait another 20 minutes at the front desk while our table was visibly empty and ready to be seated.
We were told that a 20% tip would be added to our bill since we were a large group, and we were all very understanding of this policy.
Our waitress asked me to pass the water glasses to each person at the table for her. Normally, I’d be happy to help if the restaurant was busy and she was overwhelmed, but this wasn’t the case, and I found it odd.
Additionally, the waitstaff handed out the wrong dishes to people, as if they weren’t sure who had ordered what. We had minimal interaction with our waitress until the end of the meal.
After everyone finished eating, the waitress collected everyone’s soup bowls and transferred the leftover soup and noodles into a single bowl on our table. This was very unprofessional and messy. The soups spilled onto the table and stained a brand-new canvas tote bag I had just purchased before arriving at the restaurant. I asked her to bring a towel so I could clean my bag, but the chili oil from the soups had already left a stain. She apologized and wiped the table before attempting to clean my bag.
On our way out, we asked for the waitress’s name, but her colleague had no idea. The manager overheard the conversation, and we explained the situation. They apologized and tried to be accommodating, but we simply wanted to make them aware of the incident so they could address it.
Unfortunately, several members of our group experienced upset stomachs after the meal. It was a disappointing experience, especially since we were visiting from out of town and were looking forward to trying a trendy...
Read moreI ate here for dinner a week or so ago. Since it had only been opened for a week, we were easily able to get a table. We got tonkotsu ramen, pho bo vien with extra brisket, and the KFC buns. Overall, it was good service, decent food, but on the pricey side (because seaport).
I was a little disappointed by the KFC buns. It was cooked fine, but I was expecting something more like korean fried chicken but it was really just fried breaded chicken with a gochujang sauce on the top with some pickles. I probably wouldn't order this again, but wouldn't mind trying their other baos.
The Pho bo vien broth was pretty tasty and flavorful since the spices came through. A little on the sweeter side, but it seems like a lot of MA places do that. We got this with extra brisket, but felt like there was still a lot less meat than most pho places we've been to. We were also sad that the rare beef was actually already well done by the time it got to the table. The bean sprout and thai basil quality and quantity could have also been better.
The ramen broth was very rich but tasty and had flavors also. We could definitely taste the pork fat coming through, and the butter also adds to the richness. The egg could have been made prettier if it was egg shaped but the marinade still made it taste good. Chashu was also a decent thickness, definitely a rarity in a lot of ramen places around. It would been even better it was grilled or seared afterwards, but probably takes too much time. The amount of noodles was on the smaller side, but it's probably still filling enough with the rich rich broth. Not a bad ramen at all if you like a rich...
