Snowport is one of Boston's main holiday markets, taking place in the Boston seaport area. It boasts a wide range of vendors as well as food options.
We've come here multiple times in the past years, and in my opinion, the quality has declined over the years. The vendors are alright, there is a wide variety of shops, but a lot of them don't change from year to year. This makes it boring if you've went in a previous year and didn't enjoy the variety.
The food, however, is alright. Consistent with other holiday markets, some of the food tends to be overpriced and not great quality. I got the Hot chocolate from Smores n More, and for the pricepoint, I probably wouldnt get it again. It was very watery and had a weird consistency, and just didn't taste right. In contrast, I did really enjoy the truffle fries (even though it is overpriced) as well as the waffles from Naughty Waffle.
There is some live performers during some days, and that definitely helps with the vibe of the place, but most of the time it is bustling with regular holiday tunes.
The line situation, however, probably was the worst during the 2024 season. They introduced a priority pass system as well as a cap on people inside the market. Totally understandable due to crowd crush and a rise in popularity, however this led to situations where the line would take around 3-4 hours to enter. I decided to come back on a weekday and we were able to just walk in right away. Was it worth waiting 4 hours for? I don't think so.
Overall, the Snowport is a great location to go visit once or twice, but doesn't have a great appeal outside of posting on...
Read moreI visited Snowport in mid December on a windy, snowy, and piercingly cold day, which really added to the Christmas market feel. I passed through all of the stalls and stopped for hot chocolate that I saw in another review (which had gone up from $5 to $6 in the span of a couple of days!). It was nothing special but felt essential to warm up in the biting snow. In terms of handmade products there were some nice, very expensive glass art pieces and some cool upcycled bamboo chopstick produce holder. Overall while a lot of things looked nice, I couldn't justify the prices for myself.
I ended up buying products from two food stands that were from New York, so much for shopping local! The truffle shop was giving free samples of their products (and of course, expecting you to buy what you tried). We did buy a few things there that we really liked, and checking online it seems like it was actually cheaper than buying online normally. We also got Mama Lam's hot sauce after trying the curry sauce and hot sauce. The hot sauce was so good (though expensive), and I'll definitely be getting it again. I appreciated being exposed to these delicious products through the market.
Overall while this is probably the best holiday market in the area, coming from an avid holiday market/craft fair attendee in LA/the Bay area, nothing I've seen in Boston compares. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to attend (especially not in inclement weather), but it's a pleasant enough experience with a wide...
Read moreLooking for a wicked good time this winter? Look no further than Snowport, the chilliest and most happening spot in town! It's where Bostonians go when the weather turns colder than a Celtics fan's stare. You can slide on ice like a pro, shop for gifts that even your pickiest cousin will love, and sip on cocktails that'll warm you up faster than a clam chowder bath.
And speaking of cocktails, Snowport's got it all - mulled wines to keep you toasty, boozy (or not) hot chocolates that'll make you feel like a kid again (with a twist), and a variety of other cocktails to put the "cheers" in "chilly."
Hungry? No problem! Snowport's got an army of food trucks that'll satisfy every member of your family. From gourmet pizzas to lobster rolls, there's something for everyone, even your cranky uncle who insists on a kale salad.
Plus, it's just a stone's throw away from the Institute of Contemporary Arts, so you can get your culture fix before or after your icy adventures. And if you're feeling fancy, why not take the ferry from Lovejoy Wharf? It's like a mini vacation within your winter vacation.
But here's a pro tip, folks: when Snowport is hopping, your network might be as reliable as the T during a snowstorm. So plan your commute accordingly, or just embrace the off-grid experience and enjoy the winter wonderland vibes. Either way, Snowport is where the cool kids (and the warm ones, thanks to those cocktails) are hanging out this winter....
