Color Me Mine — Local services in Boulder

I took my seven year old to the Color Me Mine in Boulder several months ago, and we were having a good time until the owner showed up. She seemed very upset about something and nagged her employee for about half an hour before taking her to a back room and loudly cursing at her. My son and I could hear everything. I quickly left and had to explain to my son why the owner was yelling at the poor girl.

A couple weeks ago my girlfriend and I took our kids to the new Color Me Mine at the Orchards Mall, which is closer to where we live. I was shocked to see the same owner there. She came out and demanded showing my son how to paint his pottery although I told her I wanted him to do it himself. I wouldn't care if she had been kind about it, but she was confrontational. Our pottery was done several days after it was promised and had strange bumps all over it (not sure what this means, but it was never an issue at other pottery stores.)

My girlfriend had been to the Orchards Mall location before and hadn't had any problems, but for me both trips to Color Me Mine annoyed me so much I'd rather make the long trip to Crackpots...

We recently had a birthday party there, as we went to another party in the past. They called to confirm that we could show up 15m ahead of time to set up. They showed up 10 minutes AFTER the party was supposed to begin. Kids were outside running around and it was pretty embarrassing. One person showed up to run the entire thing. It was complete chaos. She didn’t explain anything. Kids were just grabbing stuff because they were so antsy from being outside waiting. It was just a horrible experience. It was completely different than what the party we went to was like. The worker was so quiet when I asked her to explain anything or help she felt uncomfortable. Instead of enjoying my daughter’s party I felt like I was working there the entire time… grabbing paint for kids, explaining stuff, and helping them wash their hands. Dear Boulder - What a great new owner and management - Miss Madalyn and her entire team ROCK. They were willing to assist but let you create, they were welcoming and our ceramics were done in less than 5 days for pick up. We went as a date - The ceramic collections to choose from were reasonably priced and group rates of 20% off M-Th is a great option to schedule with your friends. Kids - tons of options, stencils but mostly excellent customer care and great attitudes. They helped change water, encouraged using all the products, helped write names in pretty handwriting, etc. I personally spoke with Madalyn about how great our experience was and even when we picked up - her staff was friendly and prompt!
