I am only giving one star because Kellie didn't do well with in home measurements which are critical with anything that is custom made. Kellie did not even remember our initial appointment, we had to call to remind her 1/2 hour after the time she was to arrive, she said she totally forgot and apologized extensively which we accepted, we understand, busy people have a lot on their mind. We had four custom valances made, a window seat, and a few pillows which cost over $2,250.00. No sign off paperwork or diagrams were ever presented of what she was making for us so we could verify the dimensions before production, she was just jotting down a few notes while measuring at our home. We own a moulding design business, we deal with measurements daily, everybody we work with must sign our approval sheets before any production, it protects both of us from errors which we all make from time to time. We wait about one month, paid most of the money upon delivery, three of four valences had to be cut down four inches in height because the shutters could not open when valence was in place, they cut them down and used the same liner, old staple marks are now visible on the underside from previous use, ugly, but it's on the underside no big deal mistakes happen. Good customer service right, not so fast, read more. When she originally came to measure our home, we gave here the measurement of the vertical blind bar that the blinds hang from which was 68" wide from the manufacturer (not in place at the time of measuring due to remodeling) this was critical information. When we go to install this valance it measures 66" inside 68" overall, It was supposed to be 70" inside dimension and larger on the outside dimension depending on the thickness of the fabric and padding , we have the blind bar size of 68" in our our notes, she even has it in her notes which she shared with us for the first time after everything thing was made, delivered and paid for. Look at the photo we posted of her notes she shared via email, someone erased inside box dimension and changed it to outside, she also has notes on the bracket dimension 35" center of valance box in her notes which would have worked if the box was 70", the sides of the box are 1" thickness leaving 68" inside dimension, dishonestly when things go wrong, not good! (see photo) Here is the real kicker, when we brought the valence back and told her husband it did not fit (blind bar now installed) she texted us (no phone call this time) the next morning wants to charge us an additional over $200.00 more to fix mistake because the valance box has to be made from scratch again and if she was able to use the same material (that won't be an option) so it will cost even more than $200.00. ( that's not happening). We are not happy with the level of customer service, this is Kellie's mistake that could have been avoided if we had the opportunity to view drawings and sizes before anything was made, a signed approval sheet diagram to the client would have allowed us to check her dimensions. She has our $659.00 valence which is too small, she refuses fix the problem free of charge, so we stopped payment of a check for $371.00. We both lost money in this transaction, sad, very sad, this is the first time I ever had to stop payment on a check in my life, I am in my late 50's. So now I have to cut down the six large brackets for mounting 1", drill and countersink the holes to make the brackets work on two valences which have twenty or more staple holes on the underside. The quality of the actual upholstery is very good but when they make mistakes they try to blame it on the customer, Kellie asked why we would be placing a box valance over a plantation shutters, does that question have any relevance? If you are dealing with Kellie, check all dimensions, ask for drawings with sizes before Markell's produces anything. Read moreI had Mike and Kelly reupholster a living room chair that I just couldn't live without. I tried finding similar chairs, big oversized curved back wing, but it looks like they just don't make them anymore. I originally special ordered the chair so I am kind of picky plus I sold furniture for years so I know what good quality is. Mike and Kelly did an excellent job on the chair. It is beautiful and looks brand new again. Their workmanship is flawless and they were so great and accommodating to work with. I would...
