We had an excellent time at this crafts studio. This review is for the rug tufting craft which took us about 5hrs to complete. Ye gave us a thorough explanation and safety tips when operating the tufting gun. Ye was very helpful and kind when explaining the craft. Rug tufting is more advanced of a craft and he gave us some time to practice using the equipment.
The initial set up and teaching session took about 30minutes as it was our very first time. I initially booked a 2 hour studio time online ($20/hr for our party of 2), but we extended the studio time since it took us longer to complete. This was no problem as we came in on a Monday at 1pm so the studio was pretty empty (weekends may be busier). Cost of the craft is separate from studio hourly fee, we selected a Medium & Small rug (prices listed online). It can seem pricey, but we had a staff member in the room the entire time as they would help us with craft if we needed assistance, so I thought of it as paying for a private instructor.
After you finish your design, the staff member helps you cut the canvas and paste/ secure the yarn onto felt backing. I definitely think rug tufting at this studio is one of the best crafts to do, but I think this is more suited for adults or teens, especially for bigger rugs. The extra small size/ phone case size might be a better option if you want spend less than 2hrs at the studio. We are visiting boston and were able to take our rugs onto the plane in our carry on luggage! We’d love to...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place as my daughter is really into arts and crafts. But after our first visit, I can't for the life of me recommend this place to anyone. I don't know why people say that the prices are great. They're charging you the time spent "shopping" in their studio for the project you're looking to create; this is on top of their staff nickel and diming you for everything you end up using to create your project, as the "$29.99 project price" disclosed on their website only includes a cheap t-shirt along with 2 little stickers. I was expecting that this cost would include the staff helping with the project, but nope, all they do is come in and tell you that everything comes at a cost. At the end, we left with a T-shirt costing ~$60 for a few stickers that were heated onto the shirt.
The most upsetting part of this process was that when it came time for the shirt to be finalized, the staff just told her to her to place her t-shirt onto the "Fancierstudio heat press", when it was already heated. Really?? What do you think will happen if the 10 year old burns themselves using that equipment? Seems like the only purpose of the staff is to make sure you're paying for every little thing you end up using.
Maybe the going rate for a custom t-shirt is ~$60 given the recent inflation, but given that there's literally no help by the staff, and the possibility of injury, I will never bring my daughter back into this...
Read moreVisited here on Halloween night, suggested the business to fix the address message on google maps, because my friend and I both went the wrong way. The Halloween party was fun, we made masks and met a lot of new friends, and there was a variety of food at the party, which was great.
This is a craft workshop, they have many separate rooms, if you go out to chat with your friends but are tired of dessert shops and coffee shops, consider coming here to chat and make some small crafts to pass the time. Their corridors are filled with all kinds of handmade materials and the interior decoration is also very delicate, if I have time I will visit here next time to make my...
