Teehee — Local services in Brookline

I went in this shop to look for some things for my daughter. Upon walking in I smiled at the cashier clerk who then gave me a dirty look and looked away! I continued to walk around just taking a look. I asked another young lady that was working there if they had any Naruto or anime character knick knacks she politely said she wasn't sure. Then she turned to ask the cashier who originally gave me a nasty look. The cashier then says with an OBVIOUS attitude "We don't carry those types of things here, this is more of a character store". Keep in mind Naruto and the other anime characters I mentioned are CHARACTERS! I'm not sure why she felt the need to be so hostile and RUDE! I'm going to take a guess and just assume that it's because I do not look like the usual customers they're used to getting. I was so excited to visit because my kid has been wanting to go to the store so I'd figured I'll check it out before I took her. Needless to say I was clearly NOT wanted or welcomed in the store! This place is nice, they have a wide selection of Sanrio, stationery, kpop, and much more. There is a lot of imported goods and a lot of things that i've never seen before, so it's nice to go browse and find items you may have never knew existed.

However, the one thing that stops me from buying here are the prices. A lot of the items are vastly overpriced, to the point that the markup doesn't make sense when considering import fees. There were some products on the shelves that still had the original price (to be fair, it was in yen) and it was nearly $20-$30 more, and this was for small products like stationery. With the rise in online retailers and direct from Asia sellers, I would probably look there first before buying...

A really cute store but one of the employees or maybe owner it was a tall man was following me around the store the whole time watching me and ended up handing me a basket stating I had too many things. A few minutes later he coincidentally came up to my friend and said the same thing. It just felt as though he thought I was trying to shop lift and he would not stop watching us and following us between the small store aisles. My friend and I and the two employees were literally the only people in the store. The store was adorable and usually wonderful staff but because of him I don’t think I’ll be returning it made for a very uncomfortable...
