Calico Ghost Town is an amazing relic of history that should not be missed. It takes visitors back to the early days of western travel and exploration in the region, and pay his respects to the mining community, adventurers of the Old West, and much older Native American heritage of the region. It also features an excellent assortment of activities, ranging from various shops that are all phenomenal and offer something new, to tours of the mines, and a train ride. During my visit here I felt it would be much too hot out to ride the train and so often for the mind excursion instead, which was a perfect way to beat the heat. A major highlight was the saloon, which offered natural sarsaparilla without any of the weird unhealthy additives that most sodas and soft drinks have, with a wonderful employee running the shop that make sure we were properly taken care of and welcomed in the midst of one of the hottest days of the summer, a free deck of cards to play with while we were there, and wonderful western ambience surrounding us during our rest stop. A few tips that I would suggest for this monument would be to include a discount for teachers and those who work in education, more prominent Matt placed throughout the Ghost Town to help people find their way, and perhaps even some bulletins and information detailing various influences on pop-culture shown here; Calico Ghost Town is one of the settings featured in the popular Fallout series, and adding more markers and indicators of this fact would likely bring in even more tourism. The train engine that pulled us around was built back in 1881 and looks Awesome. They own two trains built from the same factory. They have the very first train and the very last train built at the Colorado train yard. This is a must see and ride but watch out for the train robbery one will take your money and the other your heart...
