I’ve never written a review other than for my sister’s business because I love her (and she really is so great), but Moody’s really deserves this one. My partner and I got engaged and our photos were on a roll of film. Because we’ve developed film here once before, I knew there was a 2-week turnaround (even though we got them a few days earlier in the past). The day after our engagement I drove all the way down to Burien instead of a drop box in Seattle, strolled in at 4:30pm (30min before closing), and asked if there was any way I could pay a fee to expedite the film because our engagement photos were on there. I asked knowing the answer was probably no because their small studio is always filled to the brim with envelopes of film to process. They kindly apologized, and said they’ve offered that once before and everyone paid the fee, rightfully so!!! I 10000% understood and said no worries because good things take time!! I overheard another coworker in the back regarding another film roll I’m assuming saying “it’s their anniversary we have to do it for love” or something along those lines and then the guy helping me turns to them, and to me, and says well then we have to do theirs too :-) For love! And within hours we received the most perfect film photos from the most perfect day.
The people that work here are the most genuine, kind individuals and the beautiful film is a bonus. To giving, showing, receiving, being, and developing love!!!! It is a story I’ll remember forever and a feeling that their kindness brought me I’ll...
Read moreI have now developed 21 rolls of film at Moody’s since august. They pick up from the drop box at Porchlight on Mondays and Fridays. A link to the scans usually comes within 5 days of pickup, sometimes even less (wow, you must be working so hard!). If you have a complicated order or any confusion about the film or turnaround is more than a week, just text them. It’s a small local mom n pop business and the customer service is great. I don’t expect this to continue but they have been scanning my half frame exposures individually which is twice the work. Thank you Moody’s!! I can also say that they cultivate a community around film with their business partners- when I go into Porchlight, I can really learn and get excited about film by talking to the employees there.
My only reservation is that prints are not their specialty - development and scanning is amazing quality but you’ll be better off with the colors of skin tones and sharpness if you order prints from Nations or Mpix for...
Read moreI wanted to get into film but was intimidated; there is so much to know and a lot of people I talked to at other businesses were dismissive or condescending. I went to Moody’s and Megan walked me through what I needed to know to get started. I’ve been taking my film to them ever since. They are the most reasonably priced in the city and do SUCH an amazing job with my scans. I almost always get my scans back within a few days and never longer than two weeks (and that’s only when they’re slammed, which I totally understand). They’ve got a great selection of cameras and film as well. Moody’s is not only a local business I love to support, but they’re also a pillar of the film community, always happy to talk film, cameras, or just get hyped with you about this neat process. I make the trip down to Burien just to see these wonderful people. Added some pictures of scans...
