My phone was SIM swapped by a hacker, leaving me without a cell phone. I called Boost Mobile, great customer support even on Sundays, and they tried to marry my phone back to my account, but told me I would unfortunately need a new SIM card. I drove 70 miles to Boost, and was told I could get a new SIM card for free because I was eligible for an upgrade. Cool! Then the problem, but first a story: I have been with Boost for 15 years. I always buy and install my own SIM cards. Its not rocket science. You can either activate them online or call Boost Mobile and they will do it for free. I have even reused older style SIM cards by cutting them so they fit into micro SIM slots. With that said, the problem: the young man asked if I would like him to activate my SIM for me real quick and I gladly said sure. He then charged me $47 dollars. I was shocked because he mentioned nothing about charging me before offering to do it. I paid the fee, because I was in a hurry to do this and returned to the store when I had time to ask for a refund. The manager doesn't work at the store he works over the phone. The kid called the manager and was told he could lose his job if he gave me a refund. Let me tell you, you dont need a Boost store to scam you to activate your SIM. Boost is prepaid and our right and freedom as customers is that we can activate a SIM card ourselves. I am disgusted with this stores policy and was first scammed when I was SIM swapped, then I was scammed when I came to this store for a 4 dollar SIM card.
Edit: I switched to T Mobile after 15 years with Boost Mobile because of this store. I was paying 60 for 50gb high speed + hotspot, and now I pay 25 for unlimited data and free hot spot. Good riddance you...
Read moreIf Could give this a zero star rating I would. I had to purchase a new sim card because mine was defective. I went to this location for help. I needed a $10 card and that's it. He asked if I wanted him to activate my phone so I said sure. He only needed to activate the card online. I DIDN'T need any help setting up my phone or transferring info. He charged me $35 for something I could have done myself online! Then he asked me if I wanted a screen protector. So I said yes for $10. He sold me the incorrect one. It is poorly placed. The protector covers my camera which it is not supposed to. When I asked him about it, he acted as if I didn't know what I'm talking about. To top it off it has two bread hairs trapped underneath it!! YUCK!!!! So grossed out I had to buy another. I'm in my 30's and I can only imagine how many elderly people he takes advantage of. He was helping an elderly couple when I arrived. $85 when I left, didn't purchase the phone just a $15 a month plan, activation and screen protector!!!! I felt violated and upset. My phone only cost me $89 at Walmart and now I had to pay $85 at the store. Ridiculous!! Never going back ever! Beware stay away! You can set your own phone up on boost...
Read moreWent in December 26th 2023 to get a new phone with Boost. Was told $40 per month for unlimited with 35gb of internet. Asked for a receipt which was not itemized. So $141 for new service and $8 added without my knowledge. Doing the math it was $93 for a new line? The lady spoke four languages but did not help with phone set up. I got home and there was no charger. I called the store and she said the phones don't come with a charger! What?! Then the phone was continually downloading and wouldn't work. Luckily, I was able to figure it out after about an hour. Crappy customer service. You guys need to explain to people what they are paying for. I never asked or knew I was getting charged $8 monthly for insurance until I looked at the phone. That's why they don't itemize their receipt!
Oh, and the bank had to cancel my debit card for fraud because I was charged $96 on January 26th (supposed to be $48). Just go to Walmart and buy a phone. It will be less expensive and less...
