Ammendment to my last review: Although I stand by my last review and the in house service and food being wonderful, I have a very different take on the pre-order, and pastry take out. Short story: They gave me FROZEN pastry instead of fresh for something I ordered and paid for in advance. And no one in the shop told me while I was there waiting for almost an hour. I do NOT recommend this bakery if you care about your event. Whole story: I ordered and paid, a week in advance, for an apple tart for a party. I requested it be ready a couple hours earlier than it was actually needed as I am occasionally running late an the traffic and the laws of CarlosMurphy (what can go wrong will go wrong) So pick up day was no exception. The day of pick up I was running late it was storming. I called the store to tell the I was running late. I get there and my order is not ready they tell ne just a few minutes. While I'm waiting people come in they get cakes and what nots out of the case and I am still waiting. 20 minutes go by and still no tart. Finally they someone comes out says there was a mix up with my order it will be just a few more minutes. Another 20 minutes, I think they are baking me a new one it is taking so long. Finally I get a box togo. Many apologies from staff member, but nothing more. I get to my party almost 45 minutes later, the traffic you know abd then parking was non existent. And low and behold the tart is totally frozen. F R O Z E N !!! I can't serve this, I can't even cut this large brick, let alone think someone could eat it. I was livid! I called the store. The lady who answered said "Oh I was just calling you to say that it needed to sit out for an hour before serving". No one at the store when I was picking it up said they were giving me a frozen tart, because they screwed up! The lady said I will bring you a replacement cake after store closes. After store close what good was that? And if I wanted a cake, I would have ordered one. Then she is like well I could bring it now. By the time she got to where I was the party would be over, the tart she gave me would be unfrozen. I was so mad. I couldn't return, by the time I got back there the store wiuld be closed and they weren't open the next day which was a monday. So I said I would call the manager tuesday. Still so mad $#!%, (trying to be polite here, and keep this comment G rated) I do NOT recommend you get any special occasion cake or large pastry here. They were unreliable, irresponsible and flat out rude!!! They could have told me when I was in the store, but nooooo ... I digress, still incredibly angry and this happened over a week ago! Just Don't order out from this bakery.
Previous reveiw: Lovely little savory desert bakery, perfect for that afternoon sweet. Which is why I went there today. Had a beautiful strawberry crepe. Fresh strawberries on top of a thick crepe with homemade creme and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Delish! I saw a pecan and an apple tarte that looked like they came out of a food magazine. Lotsa little one serving baked goods; the lemon bars looked especially appealing. Good thing there is always tomorrow to have...
Read moreSent two cake requests online but didn’t hear back so I decided to call the store. Someone told me, oh Ani probably won’t get back to you? Then why have a custom cake request? So placing an order for custom cake is by luck? If you’re lucky, you get your name chosen and that’s how you get a custom cake from here? Well since this place was recommended, I decided to give it a try. Since it was too last minute to place a custom order, we went with a 10” Ravishing Raspberry for pick up on SATURDAY Amoy SUNDAY at 10 am. Came to the store and it is not there. WTH, I confirmed this order twice. They said it was for pick on Sunday. Told me to wait for 10 mins while they assemble the cake, which turn out longer. They presented me the cake and the name is spelled wrong! So they attempted to fix it but handwriting flow isn’t the same. So $135 wasted and truly unhappy and unsatisfied with the service. They need to get their act together. Maybe they have enough customers that don’t care.
While waiting I was observing their cake showcase and was horrified to see the food sign and inserts has mold in it! Food inspectors will have a great field day with this place.
And to respond to ANI, I’m not smashing your reputation. I am stating the truth. Folks, beware, pictures don’t lie, you can clearly see the mold on the signs and it looks it hasn’t been change in a loooonnnggg time. They do look like flower colorful signs BUT with dark, MOLD on them. Pictures don’t lie. Just stating the truth here.
I called a couple times because I originally wanted a custom cake but you didn’t even respond to let me know whether this was possible or not! Then I called a second time and someone told me (with you in the background) that this is not possible so I decided to place an order for a 10” for $135 instead of going with two cakes for $45 each. And again, I told the lady who took the order to make sure it is for Saturday and have confirmed before hanging up. Own up to your mistake and stop trying to cover it and you have done with your other responses. This is how you loose customers. And by the way, your raspberry moose was so soft and cake too crumbly so when I cut into a few slices, the cake fell over and can’t hold the shape which...
Read moreFlower Flour has a few highlights, but unfortunately, my experience wasn’t as enjoyable as I had hoped.
Croissant: The croissant was decent, but not the standout I expected. It had a good flaky texture but lacked the buttery richness that makes a croissant truly amazing. It was a bit on the dry side, and I was hoping for more depth in flavor. The sugar flour didn’t taste good at all. It felt overly sweet without balancing the flavors, and the texture wasn’t as light or airy as I expected. It didn’t quite live up to the standards I was hoping for, especially given the reputation.
Service: The service was disappointing. The staff were rude, and I felt like my questions and requests were met with indifference. It was clear they didn’t prioritize customer service, which made the visit feel uncomfortable.
Ambience: The ambience was decent. It was a nice space with a simple, cozy feel to it, though nothing about the environment stood out as exceptional. It made for an okay spot to enjoy a bite, but it didn’t have that special, inviting atmosphere I was hoping for.
Overall, Flower Flour has room for improvement. The food wasn’t up to par, the service was lacking, and while the ambience was decent, it didn’t quite make up for the other shortcomings. Wouldn’t rush back unless there’s an improvement in...
