HEY everyone! Time for another restaurant review. Let me break it down. My hat is off to the manager and staff here. I have gone to more than a few restaurants on their day one opener. Usually it's chaotic and generally a bad experience. This was anything but that. Even watched a server bring food to the wrong table. The manager pulled her to the side and asked her to come get him if she did not know which table was which.
I very much recommend Twisted Biscuit as a brunch place. Double recommend for a group of adult friends due to the selection of cocktail drinks.
Atmosphere 5/5
-Good balance of witty and funny decore vs food advertising. -Music was good volume and good mix of 80s. -This will be be my only gripe on this review I'm a plus sized person and the chairs were a tad bit small but I'm big so that will not affect anyone smaller than me.
Service 5/5
Very friendly, fast, a great conversationalist. Had helpful knowledge of the menu even though it was day one. Good suggestions of what to get. Ashley was overall a very talented waitress. Watched the staff and on the day one opener, even with all the business, they were well coordinated. Generally looking for what work needs to be done and clearing tables quickly.
Food 5/5
Avo-great-day 5/5 -Presentation, wonderful much better than I was expecting for the price paid -cost to size ratio, definitely getting your money's worth here with good sized portions. -taste, usually when having avocado you are left with almost a greasy feeling due to the high fat content. This was offset by the cherry tomatoes soaked in vinegarette, the tomatoes were absolute little acid bombs that cut that fatty feeling out completely. The goat cheese really gave that soft creamy feeling and brought down the acid a touch from the tomatoes. The goat cheese was actually the star here helping to combine all the ingredients. The bacon bits were not really forward but added a small amount of saltiness to the dish. The base or sourdough rye was definitely house made or professionally done close by. Rye is my favorite bread so I have nothing but good things to say about the taste and texture.
Chorizo chili 4/5 Not as spicy as I like my chili or Chorizo but I enjoy ghost pepper hot sauce made with just salt vinegar and ghost pepper. Everything was well incorporated and the cheese on top kept the chili warm until I was done with my main entrée.
Plot Twist French Toast 5/5 Sweet sesame bread instead of the basic brioche or sourdough. Super soft and easily cut with a fork. Topped with Nutella drizzle, blackberry jam, pecans, and powdered sugar. Syrup was on the table if desired. The serving was very large and the toppings were light, making it so you might be able to finish without becoming too sick from sugar overload. My wife didn't even make it halfway through before needing a to-go box.
Side of scrambled eggs 4/5 Sometimes you get weird, wet, spongey scrambled eggs. These definitely were not. Seemed like the ratio of egg yolk may have been higher than egg whites to alter the texture. Added own salt and pepper from the table.
Drinks Sea Salt Carmel Cold Brew Latte, Iced 4/5 Good amount of creamy vs salty and carmel with no overpowering flavors. I recommend this and I'm not a sweet coffee person.
Mango Peach Smoothie 4/5 A tad too much sweet for me but nice and balanced. Has a candy straw that brought a little extra sweetness and did not let the flavor of the peach...
Read moreI had such high expectations for Twisted Biscuit but not a single one of them was met. I am beyond disappointed and do not plan to come back any time in the future.
I'll start with the one positive we had. Our server was bubbly and super nice. She was a bit forgetful (didn't receive eating utensils and requested them twice before finally receiving them). This wasn't a big deal, we really liked our server.
Now on to the bad. The food was absolutely horrific. My son (3) ordered the m&m pancakes and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were black and a goey mess. My son still said they tasted good. (It had chocolate, I'm sure he would have said it was good regardless.) The scrambled eggs smelt like literal garbage. I'm not sure if they were spoiled or what happened but I didn't let him eat them because of the awful smell. My husband ordered one of the egg dishes. The eggs also smelt bad and seemed to be overcooked on one side and not cooked at all on the other. His portion of food was also extremely small especially since it cost $15.99. My other son (2) had the mac and cheese, ate one bite and refused to eat more. (I did not try this dish so I can't say it was bad. My son will occasionally just refuse to eat and I don't fault the restaurant for this.) I had the Twisted Tenders and it was just alright. The tenders themselves were fine, a little dry. The Twisted Fries on the other hand came out cold. They seemed like they had been sitting there for awhile before they were served to us. It may also be a personal preference but whatever spices they put on the fries was just not good. It tasted like they just doused it in sugar. In all we paid $74 for this meal. A meal that we could barely eat. I had really high hopes for Twisted Biscuit but it's very unlikely we will be back.
Also a side note: who doesn't serve diet coke?! Like you serve coke products but not diet coke?! I truly...
Read moreMy experience eating here was honestly a nightmare. My review is for the gluten free consumer. They tout an expansive list of "gf+" options. You can order almost anything on the menu gluten free. When I put my order in for gluten free pancakes, the waitress stopped me and said, "Well that means gluten friendly and not gluten free." I assumed that she just didn't really understand the menu well...in my mind, listing a "gf" option means that product is made without gluten, but it is not guaranteeing that there will be no cross contamination. The waitress needed help using the ordering system and asked for guidance from another waitress after putting my dad's in incorrectly. After that happened, my dad tells me I ought to make sure and ask when the pancakes come out if they are gluten free. I asked the waitress and she said yes. (On another note, we sat for 5 minutes with our food and no silverware after asking 3 different people for some) Having tasted a lot of gluten free products, it looked exactly like the regular pancakes, and it was way too fluffy to be gluten free. I got very afraid and stopped eating them because I knew I was not served the correct food. When we got the receipt, sure enough we were rang up for regular pancakes. When we asked about it, she said that she told them in the back that they needed to be gluten free even though it was not rang up correctly. Obviously, for someone who has severe reactions to gluten, this answer is not good enough and definitely tells me that you cannot trust this restaurant with their "gf" options. I couldn't be more disappointed in...
