Great food at this place, and for the most part great servers. However, this evening I was mega disrespected by a tall medium build waiter with short dark hair and a close cropped beard. Had a question about my order and he got very aggressive and tried to lecture me about how I am supposed to to order. He the proceeded to loudly talk smack about me to the other waiter about 6’ behind my back(pointing and gesturing included).
Background: I had ordered and when the food came I was given a child’s size portion, I am a 6’5 240lb man. I knew that this was a kid’s plate or at least a half order, so I asked what he put in for my order. “Did you put in a full or half order?” Something just like that. No blame, but just a question. Next stop? Crazytown. Now the lecture starts and aggressive posture as he stands over me upset that I had the nerve to want my dinner the way I want it. I told him that he was being overly aggressive, and that I don’t want to argue with him. I was going to try to enjoy my meal and I would just not bother him by coming back. He leaves, and the smack talking starts from behind me. This is when I made my decision that I would not eat, and that I was going to pay my tab and leave as soon as possible. I gestured to a different waiter and asked to pay my bill. They obliged and we walked up to the front together. When we were almost at the desk where you pay, they told me I didn’t have to pay. Which I thought was very reasonable.
Even more background: The same waiter had served me before. And just like this time, I had kind of a similar dumb question. Last time I asked him to put some queso over my chicken & rice(I assumed it came with it). I know, the nerve of me. Tipped well last time, 10$ on a 30$ tab.
If you’re reading this, I’m sure you’re assuming that I’m really the problem here. You’re welcome to assume that, it’s not correct though, this guy was just a psycho. I’m a pretty cool guy, lol. I never have this type of thing happen, which is why I had to write about it. Strange times we’re...
Read moreI had a taco salad with beef, and it was pretty good; the shell / bowl was nice and crispy. Their salsa is watery but still spicy. The chips tasted stale/chewy, but the queso was really good and made the chips palatable. The standard frozen margarita was not good. I had asked for several limes, but even after squeezing them into my drink, I still couldn't taste anything. I should have sent it back, but I wasn't sure how long it would be before we saw our waitress again. My second drink (with my meal) was their frozen mango margarita. It was quite a bit better... it had flavor. We waited almost an hour to place our food order, but it arrived nice and hot. Thank goodness for the free chips while we waited! In all fairness, they were really busy, but they had plenty of staff for a Friday night. Unfortunately, several of the staff members were just standing around talking and causing all of the work to be done by a couple of nice young ladies who seemed overwhelmed. The atmosphere was just ok... the chairs are hard, and the authenticity is lacking. I doubt I return in the future ... as long as there are other Mexican food choices around town. IMO, La Luna has way better food and drinks. Heck, I'll give Taco Bell 5 stars over this place. Too bad you can't get margaritas...
Read moreFood was good. Excellent thin chips. Server was new, but wonderful and patient as he had to ask other staff some questions, to answer mine. I ordered to fit my work budget, but found a higher bill when I went to sign the final bill. This happens 75% of the time with my favorite restaurants (Mexican eateries). Usually it’s a $1 increase to an item I ordered, and when I mention the error they remove the $1. When I pointed out the discrepancy to the cashier he pointed to a soiled plastic placard on the counter that stated a fee for using a card. I placed my hand given receipt next to the one he asked me to sign, and told him I go by the amount on the receipt I was given by my server. No one said anything about added fees. I could have adjusted my generous tip to meet my limit. They may want to add that to the final bill given by the server. I don’t look on the counters for notices of extra fees. They’re close to all the local hotels so they could care less about my business. But I’ll take it elsewhere. I ate at a Thai restaurant in the area the evening before. They listed a card upcharge on the menu and on the final bill handed to me...
