Horrible, Deceptive, and Predatory Experience – Beware of This Gym’s Shady Practices
I was excited to try this gym because a few friends are members, and we thought it would be fun to take group classes together. The gym offers a 7-day trial pass, and nowhere on their website does it say that you must live within an 8-mile radius to qualify. I entered my information, including my address, and immediately received texts and multiple calls from a salesperson eager to get me set up. I made it clear that I wanted to try out a Pilates class with my friends, and after a couple of days of back-and-forth messaging, I scheduled a time to come in. They knew my address the entire time and never once mentioned that I wouldn’t be eligible for the trial.
I arrived 45 minutes early, as they requested, to set up my pass, get a tour, and go over membership details. That’s when things took a turn. As soon as they saw my ID, they coldly told me I wasn’t eligible because I live just one mile outside their radius—a policy they openly admitted is NOT listed anywhere. No apology, no concern, just a robotic “Nope, you don’t qualify.” When I pointed out that it should be disclosed upfront, the employee shrugged and said, “Yeah, it’s not on there, but that’s our policy.”
I had already made plans with my friends, so I asked if I could at least attend as a guest under my friend’s membership, since I knew that was an option. They agreed but only if I waited at the entrance like I was a trespasser until my friend physically arrived. Their attitude made me feel like I had done something wrong, and it was honestly humiliating.
While I waited, I asked to use the restroom, which I felt nervous even asking because of how they were treating me. After sitting for 30 minutes, a second employee approached me, seeming interested in my situation. He took my ID and left with it, making me believe they were working on a solution. Instead, I was taken to the back and pressured into signing up for a full membership on the spot in exchange for a three-day trial IF I paid all the upfront fees immediately. When I declined, the attitude completely shifted.
I asked for my ID back multiple times, and they kept stalling while continuing to push for a signup. When I made it clear I just wanted to take the class and leave, the salesperson suddenly acted like I wasn’t even allowed to take the class, even though I had been told I could be a guest. It became clear they had no intention of allowing me to try the gym without forcing me into a membership.
At this point, I had wasted over an hour being misled, pressured, and treated like an intruder, all because their deceptive marketing and aggressive sales tactics dragged me into this ridiculous situation. I ended up leaving in embarrassment without ever taking the class, while my friends enjoyed the workout we had planned together.
What makes this even worse is that the manager was fully aware of the situation and knew how upset I was, yet never came out to speak with me. Instead of addressing the situation, they stayed behind the scenes while their staff continued the predatory sales tactics. The complete lack of professionalism and customer service was shocking.
After this experience, I started looking at reviews and realized I’m not the only one who has been tricked by this 8-mile rule that they fail to disclose upfront. They knowingly collect personal information, aggressively push you to come in, and then blindside you with an undisclosed restriction once you’re already there. It’s shady, misleading, and honestly a humiliating way to treat potential customers.
⚠️ If you’re thinking of trying this gym, especially with a trial pass, be VERY careful. They will pressure you, waste your time, and make you feel terrible about it. Corporate needs to step in and fix these...
Read morePretty hilarious experience with these clowns here. I went on the website, gave all the necessary information, and got a 7 day pass emailed to me. I just went there now. I walked in and the girl at the front desk asked for my drivers license to start my 7 day trial. She then proceeds to tell me i don’t live within a certain radius of the gym and I can’t workout there. She said i can have a day pass. I agreed, as all I wanted to do was check out the gym & equipment and get a little workout in. One day would’ve probably been enough to make up my mind about whether or not I would sign up for a membership. And to be honest, i was almost certainly going to sign up. She had me put some information into a ipad, and when i was done, there was a screen asking me to confirm a TWENTY DOLLAR payment! For reference, this gym costs $9.99/month. But $20 for one day. Haha. What?! She made it seem like I’d get a one day free trial instead of 7. Nope. I get 0 days, not a single workout, before I’m expected to sign up for a membership?! Never in my life have i had a gym where you don’t get to try it out before you sign up. I live exactly 3 miles from the gym. The address on my driver’s license isn’t up to date, but I couldn’t even get around to mentioning it before the snarkiest began and it became a “well, that’s just the policy” after she made it seem like the 1 day trial was free, then proceeds to try to charge me $20. I decided to just leave. I called the gym from the parking lot and asked to speak with the manager on duty, to explain the situation. I told her i live 3 miles away and that I’ve never seen sales people at a brand new gym this nonchalant and non-caring about if potential customers are treated well or if they sign up or not. The worst sales technique I’ve ever seen actually. Let the potential customer walk out the door over a misunderstanding. Good way to make sure people never come back! The manager then asked if i have proof of my address. Obviously i do, but it’s now more of a headache than it’s worth. I was ready for a workout, had a friend there waiting for me and everything. I was rejected, even after a 7 day pass WAS ALREADY ISSUED TO ME, and had to leave. Now I’m expected to come back to prove my address, after being treated like that?! Nah, I’ll take my business elsewhere. Lots of other nice gyms in the immediate area. I’ll be making sure my friends that were going to check out EOS don’t go either. They’ll follow my recommendation. Hope this was worth losing a potential member and probably several others as well. May want to think about actually TRAINING your employees to work in a gym environment before you throw them behind the front desk. This ain’t it people!
And get this. I just called my buddy who is in the gym. I told him what happened, as he was expecting me. He said he forgot his id and they let him in without it. Wow!!! Solid stuff EOS. Too funny! So no id = sure, come on in. Id with Orlando address = sorry, $20 for a single...

a new member from your Casselberry location. I have requested to cancel my membership after 3 days and these are the reasons: I signed up on Wednesday, 5/22/24. I could not access the gfit classes schedule at that time. I was told to try the next day as it may be a server issue at the time. I tried to access the next day, still No access. I called Thursday, 5/23/24 to bring attention to the issues. I was told to come into the gym, I came in Friday, 5/24/24. (Now, before I went into the gym I did try to troubleshoot by deleting the app downloading it again and I signed out signed in several times to see if that might work). I explained the issues again and was told would escalate my issues as it was happening to Android users. I go in Saturday to a workout class, still unable to access the classes schedules. I bring it up with the staff again upfront. Their response is they’re not aware of any issues, which leads me to believe it is an unknown issue which is not being worked. I requested to speak with George the Manager as they did not have any information. He was in his office and did not meet with me. Only was requested to come out after I stated I would like to cancel my membership. I waited patiently, he came out, does not acknowledge me and receives his scheduled appointment he had. I can understand that he had an appointment but common courtesy and manners? as” hello miss, I understand you have a problem. I can address with you as soon as I am done” Simple acknowledgement would have demonstrated common courtesy and that my concerns as a customer mattered. I would have waited patiently. When I voiced my complaint, I asked to be canceled no discussion needed and I did not deserve to be charged. I was told by upfront staff they could not do that. How can I be charged for a service that was not provided and through no fault of my own I wished to cancel with no penalties. I should not be charged. I then spoke with an Assistant Manager, Hector, he was very professional, and validated my issues and concerns. He submitted the request. AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARS BACK. NOW IM BEING CHARGED $78.09 FOR MEMBERSHIP FEES!!! AND IM NOT EVEN A MEMEBER. I CALLED MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND...
