Bassett Furniture — Local services in Chadds Ford Township

Purchased quick a few pieces a few years ago, the salesperson was friendly and helpful, had a great experience there. Not anymore. Stopped by recently, the salesman was very rude, he has the attitude of he knows better and looks down on you.

The furnitures are really low quality, everything starting to have problems here and there after half a year of lightly use. When I say lightly, I don’t mean as we use it for couple of hours per day, I meant as we use it for couple of hours per week. The fabric of the sofa is super easy to get ripped open, just by sitting. The side table somehow becomes unstable without any heavy items placed on it. The bedroom chest just cannot have it’s drawers fully closed even without anything in it.

Now the worst part is the warranty. When I purchased it, I was told if I don’t use it for 5 years, I’ll get the money back. It made sense to me, you get your peace of mind, they hold the money for 5 years and can use it for investment, win-win. Then I went to the store and try to process this, I was told the term was never giving me money back, but used as store credit. What’s even worse, you cannot use the credit for more than 50% of the purchase, so you need to spend more money. And “It was always like this”, a brochure was given to me claiming that’s how it works. First, I kept all the record of the sales, that brochure never existed, there was a similar brochure, but no “spend more money” term was mentioned. Second, the brochure given to me was not dated in any way. I guess that’s how Bassett do business, tells you one thing, then give you a brochure a few years later to say otherwise.

I’m not going to spend more money on Bassett to “get warranty money” back. I’m believe when you are dealing with company or person with no integrity, the best way is to walk away. Good luck on anyone considering buying here for your new...

Do not buy a Bassett Couch with performance fabric. Even the warranty tech told us the fabric is terrible and does not clean well. Here is a picture of our barely one year old couch being put out to the dump. I have never been more disappointed with a piece of furniture or a companies response. This sectional was just awful and the fact that the only thing Bassett is willing to do is give me a sale price on buying new. This is our fourth Bassett couch and this was the worst. I will never again buy from Bassett and I will make sure to let people I know never to buy from Bassett.
