Once upon a time, #WilmingtonUniversity sent my diploma on September 27th. It had been a while and I still had not received it. I went on my student account to ensure my address and other information was correct. I decided to snapshot this for verification and also send the original email I got (stating it was sent on September 27th) to the registrar’s office. When asked why I still had not received it on October 16th they replied, “Please allow more time...It has only been 13 business days.” (Paraphrasing.) Finding this time frame a bit excessive, I asked how long it generally takes. They replied, “2-4 weeks- business days only. We send by USPS and we don’t use tracking numbers.” Hm. Well that’s odd. I’m not saying they’re wrong or anything but I ship things all the time via USPS and I always get a tracking number. I also send things across the country via my online shop and it has never taken 4 weeks. Ever. I live an hour away. I wish they would have told me so I could have just picked it up.
Then I asked what I should do if I did not receive it after 4 weeks and how they would be able to tell where it is or what happened to it and they told me they would order me another one if I still had not gotten it after EIGHT weeks. WHAT?
Meanwhile, they were very prompt in notifying every one of my student loan companies that I had finished school and should be put on a repayment plan in addition to sending me reminders.
One of the reminders, which I got Thursday, was postmarked 10/22/18. So. They sent me something on 9/27, which mysteriously does not have a tracking number and takes up to two months to arrive but the reminder they send me on 10/22 was so speedy that it arrived at my doorstep on 10/25.
It’s a good thing my transcripts are the only thing that really matter here and of course they show my MBA as completed, but come on. I deserve that diploma.
I just want to know... is 8 weeks the standard (from shipping date) for graduate diplomas? Anyone? Is it coming framed and wrapped with a big bow and present, too? ...because it should.
I could add this to the crazy amount of problems I’ve had with Fin Aid the past few years but it...
