Nothing's perfect, but Target comes pretty close. I'm not just a frequent shopper, I've worked at this location for Target Mobile and I've worked seasonally too. In my opinion, Target provides one of the best shopping experiences out of any other major retailer, and there's a few ways they do that.
Firstly, customer service is better than most because they have made it their focal point. Target made "Vibing" a thing before the internet. It's their approach to the customer service experience, having a great connection with your customer. Anytime someone provided a great experience at the store, if another employee saw it and mentioned it, or if the customer filled out a card to acknowledge that person, Management would always show their appreciation. Hearing from your peers that you're doing a good job and creating a culture where hard work, customer care, and teamwork is rewarded, appreciated is important.
Second, Target has the best app out of any major retailer. If you're not using the Target app, you're not getting the full Target experience and that's why you think Target is expensive, or always get disappointed when you go to the store and they're out of something. Here's how the app helps. Target Circle is a feature in the app to save 💲💲. You use coupons, right? Before you go to the store, check out the deals on Target Circle to see how much you'll save on the things you want and the things you didn't know you wanted. Save the deals in the app and show the barcode on your phone to the cashier or enter your phone number in the card reader. Bummed that you went all the way to the store and they were out of something? Use the app to check ahead if it's in stock, and if the inventory is low, which the app will say if it is, do a pick up order so you know for sure you'll have it when you get there, if the inventory is off and they're actually out of it, they'll let you know that your order can't be completed before you go to the store, and you saved some frustration and gas money. In my opinion, inventory and logistics is something that Target could work on as a whole and is why I haven't given them five stars, but it's not solely the fault of this store.
Lastly, Target has adapted very well to Pandemic shopping. I've grown very tired of every Kevin, Karen, and anti-masker out there and I very rarely go into the store. My heart goes out to everyone working retail in this time, you guys rock! Thanks for making it very easy for me to order what I need on the app and pick it up for free. Thanks for bringing it out to my car in freezing weather and carefully putting everything in my car and wishing me a good day 😊. I've used other drive up services, in my opinion, Walmart has the worst experience. It takes too long for the order to be ready, it takes too long to wait for it to come out when you're parked. Target makes this experience way easier. Whenever I place an order with Target drive up, it rarely takes more than 2 hours for it to be ready. I don't always need it that soon but it helps. When I get there and say I'm there, someone comes out with my order in five minutes or less. Sometimes it can be busy but it seems there's always enough people working in the drive up department to minimize wait time.
So, I hope my review has helped you and provided some advice on making your experience better. Please, understand that the people working here (anywhere) are human beings, they have families they're trying to feed, they're trying to make money to get through college and make a future for themselves, and they deserve our appreciation when they provide great customer...
Read moreI've mastered food shopping at Target by using their Cartwheel App for additional discounts after coupons, store coupons found on their website, mobile coupons, and manufacturing coupons. Never go to Carlisle and expect to use coupons --- they will treat you like a criminal!
Not so with Chambersburg, which is conveniently 2 miles from my house. It's just a tad smaller than the Hagarstown store, but they are super friendly, coupon friendly (I'm talking legit non-expired by the rules couponing), and they are quick to recommend additional savings opportunity, like their Red Card (an additional 5% discount off EVERYthing). I do it all!
Once you learn their brands, the rules, and understand how to stack the discounts, I highly recommend this store for ALL grocery items with the exception of fresh meat and produce. The brand name produce is okay, but I've had bad experiences with ground beef, for instance. Everything else is a thumbs up and you'll save money! They are increasing the number of organic and gluten free brands so that drives the prices down. I buy almost all of my personal care items, health care items, pet items, and laundry/cleaning products here (what I don't order from Amazon). They have a great selection, the store is clean, and most all employees are very helpful, especially in this store.
I usually skim over the women's clothing area every other visit - Cartwheel will occasionally offer additional discounts, but their clearance areas offer great deals. There are usually clearance items scattered throughout the store, but grocery and personal care/cleaning items, check all the ends of the aisle for clearance items.
This store has a Family Restroom, which I use exclusively. There's a Starbucks in the front of the store. And I've learned the Pharmacy is run by CVS (who knew) and it really works for me because their customer service is MUCH better than Walmart and the actual CVS stores in Chambersburg. And unlike Walmart, they store all of your personal information along with my insurance info so that I don't have to produce my card every time. They allow you to call in refills through an automated line and they are pretty good about leaving automated messages when you are due for a refill.
One of the good Target stores, and I definitely recommend. Ours is conveniently located in the heart of where most of our medical offices are, restaurants, Sheetz Gas station right behind Target, Kohl's, Giant Foods, and all my...
Read moreUntil today, I enjoyed going to this target. It's always clean, well stocked, nice atmosphere, and nice staff. That however changed today. I attempted to make a purchase with my target red card and the chip was not reading. After several failed attempts, the machine wouldn't read my card anymore. I told the cashier that my card wasn't reading. She then said "Well the last customer used that machine and it worked just fine so you have to use another card." I asked if the card could be typed in manually as some retail stores do still do that as a contingency. I even offered to show my license as proof that I was the card holder as I'm aware there are instances of attempted fraud with cards that don't work or some other similar issues. She said " We don't do that here. So could you make up your mind please. Besides, I don't belive its your card. They don't just stop working." It felt like I was being made to feel like I was attempting something nefarious. I said I would like to make a purchase with my card as that was my intention. She then said "Well that's not an option so what are you going to do? We have customers waiting." I then asked to speak to somebody else, or what other options I can do. Another cashier did come and move me to another register. I tried the card at another machine and it did not work. She did explain to me that I needed to call a number to get the issue fixed. I was forced to use another card as a result. I did speak to a manager up front about the whole situation who was very helpful and even gave me the 5% back that I would have gotten if I had used my Red Card. She did also explain that its against Target policy not to enter in numbers manually. I accepted that. I had no issues with that. Policy is policy. The issue wasn't the money. It was the interaction with the cashier. Customer service is important and being made to feel like I did was not acceptable. Technical issues happen, I get that, but there is a way of handling situations like that, and that wasn't the right way. I don't think I'll be going back to that Target...
