I am extremely disappointed with the experience I’ve had with Club Champion at 3920 Sharon Rd in Charlotte, NC. I ordered a set of irons from them on 9/16/2023 using their advertised interest free financing option. I was assured from multiple in-store associates before I agreed to make the purchase that it would NOT require a hard credit pull, come to find out 2 days later, the finance source did pull my credit for the transaction.
At the time of purchase (9/16/23), I was told the lead time would be 4-weeks but often times the clubs come sooner. If I had known there was even a chance of it going past 4-weeks I would have never made the purchase. I reached out for an update on 10/3/23. The next day, I was told that they were expected to be at Club Champion’s Chicago Build Shop on 10/9/2023 and ship to Charlotte within 2-3 business days after that. On 10/14/23 I got another email from Club Champion stating that the ETA had been pushed back to 11/2/23. At this point, I asked if there was anything that could be done to expedite the clubs because I had sold my previous set and had a golf weekend scheduled in Myrtle Beach the last weekend in October. My inquiry was met with no response. The weekend came and went and I did not participate. I called Club Champion HQ on 11/8 to see what was going on and to see if they could better rectify the lowsey customer service I had been experiencing. It is at this time that I requested a cancellation on the order all together. To my ammusement, they said “there is nothing they can do at the corporate level, all decisions are made by the store managers.” They didn’t apologize, they didn’t offer any solutions, they just said that they would pass along the info and I needed to get in touch with the associate that did my fitting and the store manager in Charlotte. Neither of whom were available that day. Miraculously, I got an email on that same day (11/8) saying that the clubs were now expected to be at the Chicago facility by 11/10. Well today is 11/10 and while I did not get a confirmation from Club Champion that the clubs had arrived at their Chicago facility. I did get a confirmation that they are refusing to cancel the order and they “feel sure” the clubs will be in Charlotte this coming week.
The practices of Club Champion Charlotte can be best described as the epitome of providing poor customer service. The lack of knowledge regarding their financing option, their lack of transparency in potential lead times, & their lack of empathy for the customers they are supposed to be aiming to serve is unacceptable.
Even now, Club Champion has assumed no blame for the delays pinning it on the manufacturer and completely dismissing the misinformation presented to me that was used to close the sale on 9/16/23. I will be disputing this order. At this point, I refuse to give these people my business and I highly recommend you...
Read moreUPDATE I would caution anyone to purchase clubs through Club Champion. It is apparent that their system is not set up properly to inform their employees of the changes in lead times. I placed an order for a set of irons, after my fitting, and was told that it would take 4-5 weeks before I would get them. Fast forward to 5 weeks (to the day) after purchasing.. I call looking for any updates on my order. I am told that pieces for my order are still on backorder and are not expected to arrive for another 14 days (plus however long it takes to assemble and ship them). Their rep also told me that I should have been receiving these updates, but was given the ole "our system has been acting up" excuse. So I'm not looking at around 2 months before I receive my irons (best case scenario)
I understand supply chain issues.. but what I don't understand is why Club Champion is not set up to inform the customer of production delays. This has caused me to cancel plans that is not just annoying for me, but for the party I planned the event with.
Also, it's extremely frustrating that Club Champion, so far, is not empathetic or willing to find a solution that doesn't ruin this experience.
[Initial review] Had the pleasure of working with Josh Wilson. Highly recommend using Josh and Club Champion as your go-to place for club fittings. Josh listened to my concerns/needs and stayed...
Read moreGot fit for a driver here and then spent the next two years hitting drives 30 yards shorter than I should have been. I figured it must just be me since I got professionally for for this driver at the #1 fitter in the country! Finally started to think maybe it wasn’t just me when I was hitting my 3 wood (not fit at club champion) just as far as my driver. I decided to stop by golf galaxy this time around and instantly picked up 30 yards. That is not an exaggeration. It was an instant 30 yards. My swing didn’t change during the 60 minutes I was at golf galaxy, I just got fit for a better driver….at a big box store…
It’s a shame because Club Champion has the set up to be a very good fitter but it seems like they just push whatever aftermarket shafts they got deals on. I was just reading a Reddit thread about peoples experience at Club Champion and it was mentioned how they push whatever products they get bulk deals on. The Oban Devotion shafts were mentioned as an example, followed by lots of responses from people who were fit into an Oban Devotion. That is actually what prompted me to write this review. Guess what I got fit into…
I spent close to $1K for the driver + fitting and hated the result...
