First off, I’ll say that I like their selection, and the gentleman who works there is always very friendly and eager to help, but there’s a few things holding this establishment back in my opinion.
The public area is fairly small, and there is limited seating. The decor and theme is nice, but the small seating areas lack privacy, and the public outdoor section is a little disorganized and unappealing. At times, the lounge can get extremely loud, and some clientele shout and play music on their phones, which makes for a hectic experience. The private areas aren’t really nice enough to make a membership worthwhile.
The selection is nice. You have a decent mix of inexpensive, and very expensive cigars available. The prices are only slightly higher than other lounges I’ve visited, and they’re always happy to cut and light your cigar. On a few occasions I’ve questioned the freshness of their products, though.
Finally, I’ll say that it’s always pretty warm inside. I’ve gone in on 100 degrees days and found it to be 80-85 inside. The outside area is always plagued with mosquitoes, so often, it’s really difficult to enjoy the environment.
In general, this place is far from the worst, but it’s certainly not the best. If you can catch it at the right time, it’s great— other times,...
Read moreMy humidor was feeling lonely... I was feeling adventurous... so I decided to seek out a new place to get my cigars. As I entered, I was greeted by a pleasantly, mild aroma of burning stogies. I then realized I was, already, surrounded by a great selection of fine sticks. Larry(the owner), was quick to welcome me and wasted no time trying to get acquainted with my smoking preferences. He asked some simple questions and away we went. He showed highly rated cigars, popular cigars, and little known cigars; all of which corresponded to his initial questions. His focus was, purely, on helping to find a stick i would love. There was absolutely NO pressure to purchase, and I felt like I'd known him for years by the time I left. Great experience. Considering membership in the...
Read moreStopped by for an open house event with Villager Cigars. I knew I was in a bit of trouble when I excited my vehicle and could smell the cigar smoke outside the building. Upon entering, there weren't many people inside as I arrived early. The folks at Villager were great. They helped me select a cigar that I enjoyed with the recommended glass of Chardonnay. Servie was fantastic from everyone I spoke with. There was a table of food, light fare, along with NoDa Brewery beer to sample and purchase to drink. The fairly new beer was E.S.B (Extra Special Bitter). It was pretty good and that's a lot coming from a non-beer drinker. The local breweries are winning me over! I am giving CCC 3 stars because of the closed-in atmosphere and it was pretty warm...
