I have had the most unprofessional unsuccessful experience with Value City Furniture, University City Blvd, NC. I purchased a beautiful bedroom set. I am relocating to NY and needed the bedroom set asap. I was informed VC did not deliver to my location but would for a $400. delivery fee. I agreed after VC offered me a $230 coupon and 5 year warranty free bringing down my costs. I WAS informed the company delivering my furniture was located in MD and would only make 1 trip per month. I paid the balance to have the furniture delivered July 29th. At that time I received my final bill to find out I was being CHARGED for the 5 month warranty $140.00. I cancelled the warranty and was told I would receive a check by mail. I booked my flight to New York to meet the delivery date of August 12th. I was informed by the delivery company I had to be there by August 5th or wait until the middle of September to receive my delivery. Please keep in mind I am expecting family to visit me in NY which was the rush to have the apartment decorated in time. I was unable to change my travel arrangements from NC to be in New York by August 5th. The delivery company person Joe said maybe I should look into finding a place closer to me and order something else? He said the store calendar did not coordinate with what they could see and their delivery date is what stands. I called Value City Furniture and spoke to Peter Brown, Store Manager and informed him of the issues I was running into. I was told UNFORTUNATELY there is NOTHING they could do and the delivery date is out of their control. I would not be charged a fee to cancel my order?? I said I really wanted my furniture and would look into how to work it out to get my furniture delivered by August 5th. I asked a family member to be at my house to accept the delivery. That was set up and scheduled. I received a call from the delivery company today informing me the dresser I ordered cannot be delivered due to a scratch on the dresser draw as well as THE DRESSER DRAWERS ARE DIFFERENT COLORS. I asked for a picture of the dressers so I could see if it was something I could overlook. NO! IT IS DEFINITELY A DIFFERENCE IN AT LEAST TWO DRAWERS. Now the question is so what do you want us to do. We are going to deliver some of your bedroom set but the dresser won't be delivered to you until some time in September. I do not live in New York yet SO ONCE again I will have to make arrangements to fly up to New York to get the dresser when it is ready for delivery. Needless to say my apartment will not be ready to receive guests as I wished it was. I have learned a VALUABLE lesson from VALUE CITY FURNITURE and it is that once you order your furniture and the papers are signed "There's NOTHING we can do". I am truly disappointed because this store has some of the most AMAZING furniture and I would happily shop there in a minute. The customer service just does not match what they are selling. I will be in contact with Value City Corporate office as well as leaving this long review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Photos will be uploaded as soon as I can...
Read moreNOT a great experience. First off we bought a Kitchen Table set counter height, 2x the wrong base was given to us, Finally got this correct (we had to drop off & pick up). 2nd we tell them about patch mark on our "New Last One" couch and they discount the cost, so far pretty satisfied, we then decide to not buy the extended warranty since there is still a 1 yr manufacture warranty on the couch and we figure if something is going to go wrong it will happen in the 1st year, We are correct and not sure how this went unnoticed but the stuffing at the crease on the chase seems to just be disappearing or shifting but there is little to none left in this one area, so I call to find out that they have adjusted my item from "last one status" to "ASIS" status w/o our knowledge to provide us a discount on the patch issue and of course the woman I worked with is no longer there. So the person on the phone is very adamant that there is noting we can do since it is now an ASIS item (Not purchased that way), so I tell her I need to speak to a manager, after about a 5 min hold I am told, well we wont send service to you, so you can bring in and get a store credit for another item. (same girl, no manager but this is what she is told to say apparently). Now with all that has gone on with our purchase and having to make multiple trips to your store and I had to pick it up to begin with (no deliver on my items) I am not sure I want store credit. IF this item was supposed to be an ASIS item to begin with then it should have been listed as such and I never would have looked at it to begin with (not spending over 1k on a couch that has issues.) Now I have to load it up in a UHAUL (my own labor & expense again) to bring it back to you for a store credit. My co-worker raves about VCF - I have shared this entire experience with her and she is very surprised, she insist you will make it right.. We Shall see. But you may not want to be so rude to people on the phone that have spent a lot of hard earned dollars in this store - Not yelling at owner, but Customer service. I don't treat my customers like that, or I wouldn't have any. Bad experiences travel farther...
Read moreif I could give 0 stars I would…. I spent 1,700 on a Dream Soft King size mattress and bunkie boards that I was told many of times that I would receive January 22,2025. I get an email confirmation saying that it would be delivered Wednesday the 22nd from 3:15-6:15, I wasted 3 hours of my day sitting at home for the mattress and bunkie board that were never delivered! Around 7:15, I call the store a total of 5 times, no answer. I decided that I was going to go up there as soon as they opened the next morning. I go to customer service and explain what was going on, to be told that it was just shipped out on Wednesday morning…. meaning that I was never going to receive it on Wednesday at all. I was told it wouldn’t be delivered until January 28th…. Almost a whole week later. Mind you, the ONLY reason I purchased the mattress from VCF is because it was supposed to be delivered within a few days of purchasing it.
I was over it at this point so I asked him to just cancel my order as a whole, of course no business wants to lose your money or future business so he sees what he(customer service manager)can do. I settle for a Dream Medium King mattress that he said could be delivered today, January 24,2025 along with my bunkie board. He told me they would be delivering from the hours of 11am-2pm. I get a call from the delivery guys around 1:35, let me know they were picking up my mattress. I asked what about the bunkie boards? He said they aren’t here they will be delivered on the 28th… highly confused because I was told that both my mattress and bunkie boards would be delivered today. I contacted the customer service manager about this he said that someone else was coming to VCF to pick of the bunkie boards and deliver them to me today. It is now 3:30pm and I have yet to receive my bunkie boards. All this to say, this is my first and last time shopping with VCF as a whole. The lack of communication and timeliness is absolutely unacceptable.
PS:Thank you to the Mr. Arnold, my salesman he was very nice and helpful the day I purchased and to the customer service manager(Pete Brown) who tried to accommodate me was also very nice...
