I ate there for the first time two weeks ago. Enjoyed it so much that I went back this past Friday. I’m not sure who mixed up my order with my friend’s but they gave me the spicy plate. I barely ate any of the food and was going to switch with my friend but I had already eaten out of it so I decided not too. Anyways my body does not react well to spicy food but I didn’t want to complain which is why I attempted to eat it. After a few bites I started getting sick. I told the waitress the problem. Here lies the problem. I didn’t get upset and nor did I get an attitude. However their ability to handle a complaint was horrible! Hence why I did not want to tell her the problem . I never even asked for a manager. All I wanted was another plate. I was visibly ill to point I could not eat. However I still wanted my plate and was willing to reheat it even though it wouldn’t hv been the same. The waitress entire attitude changed towards us. The manager holds my bag of food in the air counting the shrimp and to see how much I ate. They NEVER once apologized! Not too mention the manager approached us with a hostile attitude ! Also as I responded to my friend asking am I okay . The manager says “WHAT?!” I explained to her I was talkin to my friend. The manager says to me I’ll will getting the same amount of food I had which was fine with me. Also she charged me full price. Yet and still no apology from anyone as I sat their hunched over in pain. I think it’s also interesting I overheard the manager talking to the employees trying to explain her management style. Judging by the conversation, the DEFINITELY had problem with which explained my experience with her as well. . I close by saying, people talk bad about red lobster but one thing I do know is I don’t have to deal with this type of attitude. We preach support black businesses but the service attitude remains...
Read moreI’ve seen advertisements for quite a few restaurants lately that offer seafood boils and fried seafood. All of those spots look appetizing, but I decided to try the Juicy Crab first.
The restaurant is very spacious, laidback, but not overly casual. It’s a good size for solo or group dining. Jhalen was my server and not only was he attentive and friendly, he was also very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the restaurant’s events. He even suggested for me to try the Juicy Rum Punch since I like fruity cocktails, which turned out to be one of the best drinks I’ve had this year. I also had the Peachy Sunrise, which was enjoyable.
I tried several menu items like the fried calamari, which was both crispy and chewy. I definitely loved the taste, which was even better when I dipped it in the restaurant’s Boom Boom sauce. The sauce is like Bang Bang sauce, but slightly spicier with a kick of sweetness. The steamed oysters were packed with flavor, but were a bit too salty for me. I definitely would get the oysters again as it may not be as salty on another visit cause the flavor was there.
Catfish is my favorite fish so if I ever see it on a menu, I’m going to get it, which is why I tried the fried catfish basket. I loved the crispiness, the seasoning and the size of the fillets as well as the Cajun fries I paired it with. However, the entrée with the best seasoning was the Combo 10 seafood boil. I got the Juicy Special seasoning which is a combination of Cajun seasoning, lemon pepper, and garlic butter. The flavor profile was immaculate. I definitely can’t wait to come back because this first visit...
Read moreThe quality of the food is good, but it does not live up to the hype. It's NOT BAD FOOD at all! It's just normal, regular seafood. I've been eating here for a while, maybe once every other week and it becomes consuming after a while because the service is not good. It's terrible.
The greeters at the door are really kind, and I appreciate that. They are always patient and they speak to you on the way in and out. But if you do a call in order or an online order, the service at that check out register is horrible.
They have a glass barrier between the customer and the employee due to COVID-19 regulations, but the usual employee (a light-skinned girl who usually has braids and I remember her wearing glasses) never has on a mask. What's the point in standing behind a piece of glass if you 're not going to wear your mask? And you're dealing with people's food? She also has false nails with no gloves which isn't allowed in food service. Because of that, I can't really trust that The Juicy Crab has health integrity or concern for their customers.
Over the phone, whoever takes the order is really rude. It's a woman's voice but I can never identify who the woman is when I get into the location. Every. Single. Time. She always asks "What do you want?" and she cuts me off in the middle of my sentence to ask "Did you want something else?" when I'm clearly not done ordering.
I don't mean to be a Karen so if you know me and you see this leave...
