When we 1st came here they greeted us with a smile, we got our room it was clean. We left Sarah the manager was nice and so we gave a 5 star review. Wooh lord. We liked the hotel so we decided to stay here until our house was ready but after staying here longer we started to see their true colors. Wow. Total 360. We felt like we were in school or a boarding house. The assistant managmust be going through something personal in her life as she takes it out on the customer. I saw her in atleast 3 altercations while there. She doesn't handle things the professional way. Its in her attitude knowing she is wrong her way of showing you who is boss is by banning you and asking you not to return. One young lady was asking for her deposit back after about an hour the young lady started to get impatient. As anyone would have. The assistant manager moved even slower as to say you are going to wait even longer if you want to be impatient bit wouldn't you get impatient if you waited an hour for your deposit for no legitimate reason? She finally gave it to her and asked her not to come back. One night my boyfriend went out the door that was supposed to be blocked off but other people had been going out of it prior so he went out it. She seen him and when she seen me she said if he went out that door again we would be banned. The longer we stayed it was impossible to not feel the bad vibe towards us. I can't take away from the fact the rooms are clean. For now with the people they attract for whatever reason and with the way management is running the hotel it will start getting dirty and raggedy soon. Me and my boyfriend just drove past today and saw where it looks as if someone ran their entire car into the building at the end of the building bursting the window and the side of the building is now caved in. I feel sorry for the owners of this beautiful build it won't be be beautiful too much longer. I wouldn't be surprised if they talked to someone any kind of way and they probably got so upset at them and drove their car into the building on purpose. Im just trying to put the pieces together. We did nothing wrong here and neither did alot of other people who got banned people have lives and don't have time for management simply banning people because they don't like to be confronted when they are wrong or simply because they don't like someone. Its unprofessional and bad...
Read moreTL;DR: great room, poor breakfast.
Easy check-in (we walked in without a res late at night), the young man at the front desk was friendly and delightful.
Pristinely clean (kudos to the housekeeping staff); clean enough to walk on carpet barefoot. Bathroom is your typical low-ceiling space, hastily renovated by slapping waterline-high, solid stone-colored panels on shower walls, held together by a half-inch wide, sloppy caulk job - not fancy, but fresh and pleasant. And sparkling clean.
They still use spring mattresses (so you can feel your partner's every turn), not very thick, and barely any padded layer on top of the springs. We've only slept on foam or air for years, so it was a rude awakening. The mattress also has a fair amount of give - we slept fine, but could be too soft for someone with a bad back. Sheets bright-white and fresh.
Room very quiet - no sound at all from outside or from any neighbors (even though it was almost fully booked and we heard people enter neighboring rooms). Perfectly black-out curtains, and a nice view on some trees and nature. Yes, oddly dim LED lighting in the sitting area (we received a suite) but not a big deal.
AC was on in the room even though it was late October, but it warmed up fast enough after we switched to heat - a bit of burning smell as the unit turned over to heat, but it passed quickly, nothing to get excited about if you're in this situation.
Surprisingly good coffee in the room and common area. But sadly, breakfast was indeed very bad - I never believed it's possible until this stay. The scrambled eggs were truly gross - not only made from powder, but further cut with flour or starch. I actually couldn't finish and threw them in trash, for the first time in my life! The waffle machine was broken, and instead of making up for it with some pastries, they had a single variety of mini-muffins and no other baked goods.
But all in all, incredible catch, considering the very reasonable price and the horrifying reviews for virtually everything else around Charlotte under $$$$. Would definitely stay again, and probably the only place I would stay if I ever had to...
Read moreMy bf and I booked this hotel as a central spot between house shopping and a race we running in the Charlotte area. Upon arrival, it was clear that this hotel is primarily used by construction workers who come to town for the week and go home on the weekends. The parking lot was filled with large pickup trucks and vans and the parking spaces at this hotel were not large enough for these vehicles. There were also a lot of men just hanging around the property smoking various things and carrying on. It was well after 10 pm on a Wednesday when we arrived. Our hallway STUNK of cigarette smoke despite being a smoke-free hotel. The room was mostly fine, but the bathroom was awful. The stopper for the tub didn't work so they took out the one that presses down and left us with an old school rubber one on a chain. The tub took FOREVER to fill even half way. So much for those post-race Epsom salt baths we wanted. The rod holding the shower curtain was partially hanging out of the wall and because it was a curved shower rod, the curtain would fall towards the middle of the rod. We ended up using wash cloths to tie the shower curtain back so it stayed in place while we showered. There was mold around the sink. Our first morning in the hotel we went down for breakfast and were SHOCKED at how little there was available. If you didn't want cereal or a waffle you were pretty much out of luck. There were 2 lonely yogurts in the fridge. Someone did eventually put a few more in there and bring out more bread for toast, but this is by far the worst hotel breakfast I've ever seen. The coffee was also basically undrinkable. Part of why we booked this hotel was to save money on breakfast, but that was the only morning we bothered trying to eat there so so much for those savings. The fridge in our room was SO COLD that everything we put in there basically froze and there was no way to change the temperature. I used to stay at Country Inn & Suites all the time, but this one has me thinking the brand has gone downhill. I will definitely be reading reviews before I book...
