The first time I had my senegalese twist done here I paid $180. There was only one woman who completed the style. She was very professional and didn’t take any breaks. The environment at that time was inviting and I was offered free snacks and bottled water. The second time around, I explained what I wanted over the phone (same exact style as before with length and all) and was quoted a lower price but ended up paying $265. It was hot as hell because the “manager” didn’t want the air on which is insane because it should be about the comfort of the clients. One of the stylist turned the air on and the female who identified herself as the manager turned it off. The lady who initially started on my hair was extremely slow and huffed and puffed as if she didn’t want to be at work. Two additional ladies joined in to assist her with my hair without my permission. They spoke in their language the entire time, they were extremely rough with parting my hair and I could here them complaining about my hair being natural. They would start twist at the same time braiding tight as hell. My head was extremely sore from all of the pulling and tugging from three different directions. All three were extremely unprofessional and spoke in their language the entire time, took deep sighs as if I was inconveniencing them, and at some point each one took time to talk on their cell phones. I feel as though the job was rushed. In less than two weeks, twist were already coming out of my head in the back, hair was sticking out, twist were unraveling. Even though they replaced them, in less than a months time I still had twist coming out of the front of my head and I could see my natural hair twisted up in them. I’m pissed that I paid so much and experienced such horrific service. Unfortunately, the lady that twisted my hair the first time wasn’t present to do it again. I can’t remember her name and when I described her they acted as if they didn’t know who I was talking about. I’m truly disgusted with this experience. I work too hard to just throw away money. I didn’t want to leave any stars but that wasn’t an option. I called back to have another style done and the unprofessional ass so called manager laughed and said “wait are you the person who did the review ?” She then proceeded to laugh when I answered yes. I asked her if there was a problem bc I can go elsewhere and she insisted that I go elsewhere. I’ve referred several people here in the past when they complimented my hair but never again. The so-called manager is extremely ignorant, disrespectful and unprofessional and instead of apologizing and trying to rectify the situation she chose to be nasty as if me paying $265 didn’t contribute to her pockets. There are way too many hair braiding facilities in Charlotte to deal with heat and attitudes. Find something to do besides reading Yelp/Google reviews all day if you’re not doing it to better the business. Instead you want to be defensive. They would have been better off letting you remain where you were bc you hinder the business more...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! EVERYTHING WAS BAD. The whole thing was a horrible experience. I arrived at the shop at 1pm and did not leave until 5pm for only six Ghana braids which usually take only an hour. AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE. When I arrived they spend 10 minutes trying to convince me to get pricier box braids as opposed to the Ghana braids they knew I was coming for, since I had made an appointment two-days prier. Either because they knew they did not know how to do box braids, or because they thought I looked young and saw it as an opportunity for a come up. Finally, after seeing I would not waiver about my Ghana braids the woman told me it would be 85 dollars instead of the 70 dollars THE OWNER told me it would be over the phone, her reasoning is because they were going to do 8 braids instead of 6 even though I insisted on 6! After an hour of going back and forth with the woman, who could not get past the first two braid, she finally admitted she was not capable of doing the Ghana braids, and only after I said I was going to call my mother. THIS IS false advertisement because no-one in the salon even knew how to do Ghana braids which is posted boldly on their website. The owner then proceeds to call her sister who does not even work at her salon to perform the Ghana braids. The sister takes 30 minutes to arrive at the salon. The sister then proceeds to start doing my hair and when I tell her the braids are not how I want them she proceeds to start aggressively yelling in her native language over top of my head and waiving her hands. After the owner calms her down she proceeds to finishing the 6 Ghana braids. I then ask them if the braids would be 70 dollars since they did the original 6 braids instead of 8 they then tell me it will be 80 dollars without explanation. I truly believe they tried to take advantage of me because of my youthful appearance and being outnumbered. The owner was very nice but that does not constitute for the events that transpired, and her not sticking to her initial price. Not to mention THE BRAIDS WHERE NOT EVEN GHANA BRAIDS. The braids that the sister put in my head where more so GODDESS braids but not even. Which I tried to tell them all along. I showed them multiple picture of GHANA BRAIDS including one THAT WAS ON THEIR WEBSITE that they did not even know was there. I tried explaining to them to start the braid off small then make the ends thick but they started the braid off with thick braiding hair ignoring m requests. I left not only disliking my hair but feeling bullied and hoodwinked. I never leave reviews but in this insistent I just wanted to warn every one...
Read moreNot a great first time experience...Would give it a 3 for service and 4.5 for final results (small-medium Senegalese Twist) done today.
Pros: (1) 95% satisfactory with final hairstyle (not giving 100% because the twist were braided at the root and then twisted instead of twisted from root all the way down) (2) Decent price for labor although I've paid a lot less for premium quality Senegalese Twist in ATL (I have medium-long, thick hair and was charged $175. That price includes a $10 discount for scheduling appt on a Monday)
Cons: (1) Had to ask/tell stylist repeatedly to be gentle on my hair. Was too rough and continually kept snagging/popping my hair as it was not securely separated from the twist she was working on. This style is clearly not for the tender-headed, so be ware if you are (2) Did not have my color in stock (my current hair color is wine color red and I wanted to keep the reddish color but had to settle for a #33 which is light/chocolate brown) (3) And this is my personal opinion, but I got the impression the stylist was getting tired of doing my hair as I repeatedly heard her sigh deeply. Felt this was very rude being that this is her profession and I cannot possibly be the first client with medium-long hair requesting this style (4) Scheduled an 8am appt and was not seated until close to 830am (stylist was running behind by the way)
Overall, the quality of the hairstyle is good and I am satisfied. Just not sure the 8hr painful journey to get there is worth coming back to this salon.
Two days later: Was contacted by the manager regarding my review to reconcile the situation. She was very sympathetic to the situation and did not want me to go under the radar unnoticed. I let her know I was very appreciative of her personally reaching out to me and afterwards I was offered a complimentary touch-up or a discount on another service...
