I had a disastrous experience at this salon a couple of days before Thanksgiving. I booked an appointment with Jennifer after she posted numerous times her pixie cut videos online. I saw in the videos how aggressive she was with pushing the clients heads back and forth. But I knew that with the state and health of my hair, no video would be made. When I arrived, I was comfortable until she finished eating. Things quickly went downhill when she started handling my hair roughly and told me she couldn't do a pixie cut. She offered a precision cut instead, but I had no idea what that meant. I should have left then, but I agreed, and she quoted me an exorbitant price of $260, including a silk press and deep conditioner. I told her my dermatologist told me not to cut the back of my hair because it wouldn't grow back. Her response was "think positive". Again, I should've said no thanks and left. Next thing I know, the clippers start going, and I have no idea what's happening. Music with curse words and talking about sex were blasting. Afterward, a young lady shampoo my hair and put me under the dryer. I called my Dad and asked him to bring me extra money. Now I have to pay a tip for the shampoo girl. While I was on the phone, both Jennifer and the young lady kept walking back past the room watching me. It was a bit uncomfortable. The shampoo girl washed me and blowed my hair. Then Jennifer went back to cutting my hair again like Edward Scissorheads. I obviously couldn't see what was going on because the stylist turned the chair away from the mirror. She put wraps around my head and sat me under the dryer. Each time, I had to get up. I had to pull my loose pants up. Jennifer would make a huffing noise every time. I thought I finally would have some relief once under the dryers across from the shampoo bowl, but NOPE!!! She started mopping the floor and driving the mop all by my feet. I had to kick up my legs just so she could keep moving. Then the shampoo girl walked up to me and said I'm leaving and asked for a tip. I literally had no peace here. Once I was dry, she didn't pull the dryer hood up. She reached under and started roughly ripping the wraps off my head. It took everything in me not to finally say something. I just told myself it's almost over. The next thing I knew, more people, possibly other stylists, came in and sat down. They all were screaming at the top of their lungs about some concert they went to while the music still was blasting. Jennifer's children keep calling her phone. So she was yelling all in my ear while on the phone and talking to the other stylists. I had a mask on for reasons unrelated to covid. During the final cut and style. She keeps flicking the string part off of my ears. I keep putting it back around my ears, and she flick it off again. It must've happened five or six times. The final time, it fell off my face, and I was mortified. She quickly finished and asked if I liked it. I just stared at her. She took all kinds of pictures that I didn't want to take. I couldn't believe she cut the whole left side, and the complete back of my hair was gone. She was huffing and puffing again as I slowly walked to the desk to pay. By the time I I finished, I paid $330 in all. The shampoo girl was still sitting there as I paid. I walked out feeling like I had just left a haunted house. I had a headache for two days straight. I was not included or given updates regarding how she would style my hair. I would never ever wear my hair like this or any kind of bald cut. I came home to clean up and saw a tremendous amount of hair on the back of my ears. She cleaned the salon. But didn't care to clean the hair off my ears. Once, I washed my hair after two weeks. I noticed my hair stayed straight. As the months passed, my hair still didn't curl. I'm not sure what was in the $40 conditioner, but it felt like a perm. It took several months for the left side of my hair to fill in. The back is still broken off. I finally felt comfortable trying a new salon this September. Thank God the new...
Read moreThe cozy decor of the environment and aesthetic of the salon was great. Yet, the communication and time elapsed for the hairstyle was terrible and terrifying. Four fours and fifteen minutes for feed in braids. This is a hairstyle that typically takes 1.5-2hrs max- even with someone not that experienced. I can wash and blow dry my daughter's hair in less than an hour. Her hair is thick but it isn’t long. The TWO braids could be done in less than an hour. Or an hour MAX! I did not intend to spend half of an 8 hour shift getting my daughter two braids done. That is insane to me. For that amount of time she could have gotten knotless goddess braids or something majorly intricate. My daughter texted me (I'm in the waiting room up front). "Never bring me back here again". I said why?! She said half the time I've just been sitting here not even getting my hair done and now I'm shaking and feeling drowsy like I am going to pass out! My child ate breakfast but she had been there so long she clearly "missed" lunch. Immediately I notified the front desk and went to get her food. Additionally, someone did call me from The salon to schedule and confirm this appt because they had to change the day/time. At no point did anyone say "bring your own hair" for the feed in braids. I arrive and am asked if I have hair? I don't.... because no point did anyone say "bring your own hair" when I spoke to the person on the phone. So then I had to go back home and to the store to get braiding hair. I was not so upset with that but it is faulty communication. If all braided styles need to bring your own hair there should be a disclaimer or note on the booking site- or when speaking to someone on the phone they should at minimum mention it. I bought in two packs of hair and I know it didn't take all two packs of hair for those two braids- and I didn't get any of my hair I brought in back! I was not pressed for the hair because I was just glad to be out of there however it showcased the lack of care or vigilance taken all together. Someone concerned with customer care and experience would care about wait time, would communicate service delays to both client and parent, would be aware of how long they are taking to offer the client some water or a snack! It shouldn’t take someone about to pass out! Service time makes or breaks an experience because an appointment is just that- time slotted out of my day and the stylist. If the style cannot be achieved in a reasonable amount of time, I would like to be notified and kept updated. This is standard practice. I felt like nobody cared about us, our time, nothing. Just even cared enough to have offered my child a drink or snack since they knew she was there waiting four hours and had no lunch. I want communication and service. Not left waiting and waiting with no clue how much longer- until my child almost passes out. So Disappointing and disheartening. Lack of “with it ness” I really loved the location and the decor or the hair salon/ so for that it gets two stars. One star for decor and cleanliness, and another star for actually being able to do the style...
Read moreI was attending a costume party and wanted to wear a big, theatrical lace front wig. Having failed many times in the past to properly secure one on myself, I decided to find a professional. I posted in a popular Cherry Hill Facebook group asking local people to recommend a stylist experienced in lace front wig installation. This is how I found Jennifer, who also happens to be the salon owner.
Jennifer saw me for a consult the same day I called AND managed to fit me into her busy Saturday schedule to install the wig on short notice. Jennifer was so friendly and warm it felt like I was meeting an old friend; additionally, the other salon staff in the salon were very welcoming towards me.
Jennifer did a “temporary” install of an almost white-blonde (synthetic) wig over my own bright rainbow colored hair without a hint of my hair colors showing. She also plucked, trimmed, cut AND styled the wig.
The end result was the wig looked precisely how I wanted and most importantly it was completely secured to my head. It didn’t move from 2pm Saturday afternoon through 6am Sunday morning.
The price for service was very reasonable and from now on Jennifer will be my go-to person whenever any of my costumes call for a wig. I can’t recommend Jennifer’s services...
