Have been to he McCormick place several Times over the years and most recently for the Auto Show. Here now for the IMTS show. The place is enormous and has several Sections to it. I highly recommend you look over the map and layout before you go because you will be quickly overwhelmed if you aren’t familiar with where to go. There is plenty of parking, for a fee, off of Moe Dr for vehicles which can be easily accessed off of Lake Shore or coming in off of 31st. Buses can be a little tricky, they Have allowed you to come in off of Martin Luther King on some occasions however for this event, we had to use Moe Dr and go to Gate 26 for drop off and pick up. This morning that Gate was jammed full and we had to move up some and drop off. Be sure to watch signage if you’re in a bus and heading north out of Moe Dr. if you don’t, you’ll end up going down the road in the wrong direction like one driver did. You have to turn left to get out. This is one of the largest convention centers around and very well run. I know I’ll...
Read moreThis Place, I now call a City within a City, ( MC Chicago) it has so many buildings, connecting walk ways, you can now see a show, dine, and sleep in the same space, ground breaking for the convention industry! Imagine, a city that is no longer strangled by it violent reputation, as "Chi-Iraq", the conventioneers never have to venture off the premises, where they are well guarded, since Homeland Security plays a role in it's security, being a massive venue (largest in North America). It is massive in it's size, the Mircosoft show comes once a year and it's rumored to consist of over 100,000 people from all over the world. There is not a hotel available for a 10 mile radius, and all restaurants are doing a brisk business feeding all those hungry folks. I am glad we (Chicago) have MCPlace (that what we call it), it's a Jewel in an beautiful Crown (you can tell Chicago is my home town huh)...Go Cubs Go!, Da Bears, and Hawks...
Read moreMcCormick Place is a great Convention Center for any event that they host. Typically they have the auto show and Chicago Comic Con here as well as other Halloween and tattoo, and reptile conventions, etc. Parking is abundant and they have regularly running shuttles that will take you from each lot to the main entrance. Inside you'll find at least five floors. The main, ground level, is the one that will usually hold most of the attractions for whichever convention you are attending. Above that, you will find smaller rooms for special dedicated themes and topics. I highly recommend attending any show that is put on here. McCormick is definitely very Cutting Edge in terms of...
