RUDE, LOST MAIL, UNHELPFUL. It would be better for you to drive/fly your package out yourself. I always ship via USPS for my small business & this was the only time I tried this location and I will never be back. The first time I went there they made me strip off every single piece of tape I had on my 32lb package (It was black SHIPPING tape & I have always shipped with it no prior issues). It was securely stuck to the cardboard because it was peeling back box layers as I took it off. They made me tape over with flimsy white tape. Fast forward 7 business days later and my priority mail 2-day shipping package has still yet to leave chicago. I filed a claim online, spoke with several people over the phone who told me that the best way to find the package is to go to this post office and speak to them in person. I went in & asked where my package was and provided the receipt and tracking number. He said itâs in chicago somewhere and they just âarenât scanning itâ. He couldnât provide me with any eta of delivery or any location or reason why the package was taking quadruple the time expected. I asked what my next steps are and if I could receive a shipping refund and he said âno itâs only been 8 daysâ I said okay but I paid extra for 2-day shipping he said âno you did NOT pay for 2-day shipping. You paid for 2-day expected shippingâ That was completely unhelpful and a total waste of time. I am at a loss. I have no clue what to do or how to file a claim because he was rude and did not provide me with any information regarding my package nor advice on next steps to take. The only thing he said was well itâs 30lbs (priority mail weight limit is 70lbs) so itâs taking longer because itâs heavy which does not make sense what so ever. I would never recommend this post office. They have extremely long lines, no self kiosk, and incredibly rude customer service. They do not care if your package is lost and have no desire to help track it down or find out how...
Read moreI went to this location the other day to mail out a package for international shipping and also a domestic package . I patiently waited in the long line for my turn to be called to the front counter and after clerk named Dwayne called me forward and I showed him the packages I needed to be sent out , he said to me "why didn't you tell me you needed international shipping ... fill out this international address form and go to the end of the line" ok ... first off .. how was I supposed to know I needed a form? He should have waited while I filled it out at the counter , it takes a quick second and it was my turn to be helped , maybe I had questions about what form . So whatever I go away from the counter to fill out the form and after I'm done I get back to the end of the line where there's about 3-4 people in front of me . As I'm getting closer to the front (again) I hear Dwayne say to a customer they also need to fill something out and when they are done come back to the front counter , I of course thought that was wrong that he told me to get back to the end of the line and he told this other customer they didn't have to , so I spoke up . What did Dwayne then say? He says , "no, I never said that you just didn't listen ." Umm okay ... I know for a fact he said that, because I was in a hurry and I was pissed that I had to get back to the end of the line but that's not the point ... the point is ... why the F is he treating customers this way? That is no way to talk to a customer ! "You just didn't listen" this guy needs some customer service training on how to work with people because he's a complete D*ck! The Dearborn location is more friendlier . Don't waste your time at...
Read moreI went in here to buy a stamp and mail an envelope on a Friday at 3 pm, and I had no issues whatsoever. There was a bit of a line that technically stretched out the door, but this was mostly due to socially distancing measures for COVID.
The two employees working the counter (not sure if theyre the same people others mentioned in their reviews - but the descriptions fit) were kind, helpful, and trying to move the line along. I did see other customers in front of me who were not able to follow simple instructions or could not follow a clear explanation of the USPS products and services.
Most people do not like dealing with the USPS and other govt funded institutions (they do have their obvious flaws), but I did not see anything even close to the problems other reviewers reported. It's more or less a normal USPS branch. My guess is they are some combination of yuppies, the typical "Streeterville crowd", or people who do not understand that being in Downtown Chicago means you'll have to often wait in line.
The reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because this branch could definitely benefit from a self service kiosk, it would help the efficiency. I did see signs in there warning about the legal implications of robbing the post office or bringing a firearm inside, so maybe that has been an issue in the past (not necessarily here, but in Chicago). So I guess as a city we're probably at...
