Herlihy Moving & Storage — Local services in Chillicothe

I used Herlihy moving as recommended by my employer when I changed jobs. I moved, unfortunately, during a very hot real estate market in Columbus so while I was able to sell my place quickly I ran into trouble finding a new home. I hired them for full packing, move, storage for 9 months, and then move to new home. For the full packing they had a very efficient team come in and pack up all my belongings within a day. The following day they moved my items out of my condo and I was incredibly impressed with the team! My condo building has very strict rules and they are very particular about movers and how things are handled and if things are not done correctly they will fine the owner- so when they told me that these were the best movers they have ever had in the building- that is saying something! They even took their information to pass out to other owners who might be selling or moving in. Aaron and his crew took such great care of my items and when we parted I did not have an idea of when I would find a new home but Aaron told me that he would look out for my final move so he could be part of the team. A long 9 months went by and when I contacted Herlihy for a date to move my stuff into my new house- imagine my pleasant surprise to find out that Aaron kept his promise and was in charge of my move back in! He showed up ahead of schedule and his team stayed well into the evening making sure everythng was done the way I wanted. I had only one item that had minor damage (which the movers pointed out to me) and Aaron got the claim started for me right away and took photos himself. From the initial estimator who came by (kind, professional, and very quick to respond) to the packers and to the movers- I could not have been more impressed. I don't want to give this company even a half of a star. Let me start off by saying My mother who is an elder and a veteran went to them thinking they wouldn't do exactly what they told her to beware of, "movers getting her stuff and jacking the price up on her." They estimated her for $6,000 she ended up paying over $11,000! Joe HERLIHY The president of the company personally called myself and my mother telling us,(after we had already left the state and moved to Florida) we wouldn't get any of our belongings if she didn't sign the inventory or have someone in her family that was still in Ohio sign for her! Nothing was documented or signed the day of the move so we didn't feel comfortable doing that without knowing what we had in inventory, but he told us if we didn't we wouldn't see our stuff again! fast forward to today when we received our belongings nearly half of it is missing, (4 TV's just to name a few)and near half is broken or damaged. Joe was very disrespectful, very rude and not trying to help my mother at all! his behavior was completely disgusting, as well as his staff! the woman working as a receptionist was screaming so loud at my child the day he went to their storage unit, she spit on the glass separating the two....

You hire movers when you realize that you just don't have it in you. It is a lot of effort and work all the while your daily life does not pause. We chose Herlihy over two competitors. They were the most respectful from our initial contact. Their price was comparable to others, but their personalities were far different and more positive. On the day of the move, the guys showed up and went to work. They worked together, worked quickly, and not one time did I here a negative comment or any other show of disrespect. Most importantly, we started to question our own packing skills, though we didn't need to as not a single item was damaged. They took really good care of our stuff. Anyway, as a consumer who hardly ever writes reviews,,, please, if you are moving, please give this company a shot at making your move a successful and less stressful one.
