Last night I came in for dinner with my wife. It was early in the evening (5pm), and not busy at all. We had been there before and had an awesome experience and expected it to be good this time as well. That was not the case. My wife and I ordered and they were careful to pick rolls with out gluten based on the descriptions of the rolls on the menu. We got our food and one of my wife’s rolls had tempura on it and because of the level of their allergy and sensitivity to gluten, that contaminated all of the rolls on their plate. Very apologetically my wife explained this to the waitress; stating that they had a gluten allergy and just needed the rolls re-made without the tempura. This whole time, my wife is apologizing nonstop. The waitress brings the food back, theoretically telling the cooks that we just needed the rolls remade without the tempura because of my wife’s allergy. Well clearly they were mad about that. They remade my wife’s rolls as all simple, sauce free, basic rolls. Even the California roll was now just a vegetable roll. Obviously, my wife was disappointed by this but felt bad that they had already asked it to be remade and suffered through the plain lacking rolls. The worst part of all of this was that my wife had ordered specialty rolls ranging from $11-$15. Even though all we asked was for it to be remade without the tempura they purposely left out crab, sauces and other fish that would have been reason for them being specialty rolls and not vegetable rolls. Comparatively, vegetable rolls are only $4-$9. So we got to be overcharged because they decided that “remaking without tempura” gave them the authority to make the most simple rolls possible while still charging us full price. Definitely not something I enjoy happening. Lastly, we had ordered a couple drinks. The first round was good, and you could tell they had liquor in them. My last drink was blue curaçao and sprite, but I was up charged like it was an actual mixed drink, since that was what I had ordered. It was very obvious too, considering it was a completely different color than before. Overall, a horrible experience. We got overcharged for underwhelming food, drinks and service. Definitely not a place I would recommend or want to...
Read moreREVISED: First paragraph is from 8 months ago - I had given it 5 stars for the show and service but since reduced my vote to 3 stars for our 4 overall visits this year.
8 months prior: The food is good, the hibachi grill is fun, the short oriental manager (bartender) when busy gets flustered and can't make a mixed drink period, I had ordered a Bloody Mary- very bad mixed drink. I gave the food, cook and servers 5 stars they need a bartender that can mix drinks.
We have been here 2 times in between these two write ups as food was only fair -
Last nights visit we sat at a table - 11/2/19 @ 1930:
I would give it 2 stars our appetizer was Crab Rangoon it was all cream cheese with specks of what should be crab ?? The two dinners: my gf had the shrimp only hibachi, the shrimp were so chewy they probably would bounce off the floor. My dinner was the filet minion ordered medium it was as tough as shoe leather, I sent it back they cooked another steak, so fast it had no flavor but was medium cooked 😡.
Our vegetables on both dishes were rock hard not tender at ALL, the onions are cheap filler and we had mounds of onions left on our plates mixed in with the onions were 3 pieces of zucchini, 3 Broccoli florets and some carrots.
One of their waiters needs to do something with his toboggan hat and nasty hairstyle, we watched this guy twirl his greasy hair oh and bite his finger nails then HANDLED customers food plates - GROSS!!!
We don’t order mixed drinks as they still have the same bartender as mentioned above in the first paragraph, I noted most customers drinking beer.
The hibachi show is great but the quality of the food served is going down hill quick.
We will be going to home town hibachi on our next visit to Chillicothe.
Update: We haven’t been back to the Hana Steakhouse-BUT we went to the home town Hibachi in Chillicothe, It was awesome...
Read moreCame here for my dads birthday thinking it be a fun place like the one lancaster ! Dead wrong! Do not eat here or waste your time. The food was very good but the service was horrible! They rushed us the entire time (7 people) when they were empty no body was even there. They forgot my mothers appetizer she ordered and when she asked where it was the Cheif walked away(he was getting ready to start our food) and he didn’t come back up her appetizer came (15 minutes later).
Even though she told him not to worry about it just take it off the bill.
Once we started eating they started clearing plates as soon as we finished. It was very uncomfortable. The server literally stood at the end of the table and watched us eat the entire time and would take a plate as soon as it was clear we were done. Then he’d come right back to our table. The checks and boxes to go were at our table before I finished my dinner.
They literally started cleaning around us (floors) resetting plates exc while we were still clearing eating. It was extremely rude & loud and made us all feel rushed. We couldn’t even talk because the lady was extremely loud on purpose sweeping into the her duster and broom pan. My mom asked what time they closed and she said 11pm noted it was only 830pm. We mentioned why they are in such a hurry to clean while we were still eating & she said that their boss wants them to clean right away.
The servers were blah personalities & one women worker was crying in the bathroom during her shift.
It was beyond uncomfortable rushed upsetting dinner for what was suppose to be a happy birthday dinner for my dad.
No birthday ice cream/cake they give at other japense steakhouse , no happy fun cheerful workers really at all. Just blah and disappointing .
We will never be back that’s for sure! Lancaster location is wonderful we only went here to try...
