I bought two rifles at this location and I will NEVER buy another firearm from them. It was the most inefficient system I have ever seen. It took over an hour, and I got the rifle home, only to discover the store had installed the manufacturer's action lock on the gun, which was fine, but they never uninstalled their in store trigger lock.
I knew exactly what I wanted and they had them in stock, so I thought this would be easy. One of the guns I wanted was on sale for less at a competitor, so I asked if they price matched, only to be told they did, but I needed to bring a physical copy of the ad in so they could fax it to their corporate office. Seeing as how I don't carry a stack of competitor's ads with me, they were not about to match the price. Strike one.
I completed the required paperwork for purchasing the firearm. I was then told that I would have to go wait in line at the front of the store and pay the $2 background check fee, and come back with the receipt. Instead of just adding that to the bill when you buy the firearm, like every other store that sells firearms, they have to add an additional inconvenience to their customers....not even having a register in the rear of the store, and basically making you stand in like twice for the same transaction. Strike 2.
Once that was completed, I was then told there was a new CEO and he changed the process, so in addition to the ATF paperwork and approval, that approval had to be "faxed" to their corporate office for the store's approval. This took the better part of an hour. The clerk blamed it on the ATF, but I have purchased several firearms in my day and I have NEVER had to wait so long, nor for dual approvals. Strike 3.
When I finally got home, I unboxed the firearm and noticed that the clerk had put the manufacturer supplied action lock on the gun, which was perfectly fine and reasonable. What was NOT reasonable is he forgot to take off the store's provided trigger lock, which made the firearm unusable. I'm not sure why this couldn't have been done during the hour that we were sitting there waiting for their "corporate approval", but apparently, cleaning the counter was more important than making sure this step was completed correctly. Instead of taking it back to have them remove the trigger lock, I drilled the damn lock out myself. Strike 4.
I will never purchase a firearm from them. Do yourself a favor and support your local firearm dealer instead of giant corporations that make up their own asinine rules to cover their own incompetence. You will get better service from a local dealer and you will be helping to support your local community, not some giant faceless incompetent...
Read moreHi Sports Fans! My name is Brian, my friends call me Mr. Pepsi! I wanted to submit my review on Dunhams Sports in Chippewa.
Ive been shopping here for the past few years now, and the selection is huge when it comes to finding items you need...even if the Store currently does not have the item in hand, i always reach out to Store Manager Zane Wendt...the dude is very caring & willing to help anyone out, Zane is very knowledgable and can answer any of your questions, plus he can order online the item you need & want, you can pay for it & the item can be shipped right to your home. Again ive got to know Zane for a while now, he's a bit quiet, even shy, lol but all around real awesome guy to know.
Plus for all you Hunters, Dunhams is still one of the sporting stores around here that sells guns. Again Zane also over sees the gun counter as well.
In conclusion i like the selection, the customer service & prices. If you reviewers do happen to stop up, please ask for Zane, the kid wont disappoint...and tell Zane that Mr....
Read moreThere's some good deals there, but if you're not the average looking conservative type of person you seem to get a lot of looks from other customers. I don't like that any time I've gone there, I've never seen someone behind the gun counter in the back. I walked around the area for about 5 to 10 minutes looking for help, but couldn't find anyone (Maybe they could put a bell there to ring for customer service). I had to walk over, past the shoe section to find someone. The woman who helped me was very nice and helpful and I'm glad she didn't bring up politics while helping me find the right holster. In fact, that's the good thing I like about this store, the employees seem genuinely nice and as of yet none of them have brought up anything political since I don't have the same beliefs as most of...
