I don't actually agree with Erasmas that "clothes make the man" ("vestis virum facit"), but after experiencing the transformative influence of Chuck and his mastery of the art of attire, I'll go along with Shakespeare's Polonius, “The apparel oft proclaims the man." Never have I felt more assured that my outward appearance reflected the very best of who I am and who I wish to be. The store itself radiates both style and comfort, with a palette of fashionable options designed to welcome every taste. To say the service exceeded expectations would be a severe understatement: I consider myself extremely difficult to fit or to please when it comes to clothes, and have a long history of leaving other clothing stores frustrated and angry -- mostly at myself -- chronically unsure whether it was me or the clothes that simply never looked good enough. That changed last Friday, in the course of half an hour, when I had the good fortune of curiously veering into Hellman. (A tip of the fedora to the phenomenal Joe Burrow, whose local advertising certainly drew my interest.) Deepest gratitude to Chuck, not only for his patient skill and perceptive eye, but even more for his calm demeanor, respectful attentiveness, and for the character and the strong brand that he has built and earned through years of excellence. If you have never invested the time and money to look your very best -- or perhaps grown discouraged that it simply isn't worth the effort -- I highly recommend paying a visit to Chuck. You...
Read moreI came to town for a work event with a ratty old shirt to wear with my suit. I’d meant to buy a shirt before I left, but ran out of time. I figured it was a lost cause once I’d lifted off the tarmac. When I’d got to my hotel, Netherlands Plaza, I couldn’t help noticing the street displays for Hellman Clothiers. They were great - with much better options than what I’d expected to find last minute. I took a chance and popped in to check it out.
This store is fantastic! It’s actually better than any options I had available at home. The shop feels much bigger than it actually is - there’s a wide selection of styles and materials (and an open bar). I was surprised how contemporary the entire selection is (no bland, check-the-box button ups).
Far outweighing the selection, though, was the service. Chuck (Hellman, the namesake owner) spent way more time than was reasonable with me, talking about fabrics, manufacturers, and showing his clear, genuine passion and pride for the quality of the clothes he sells.
I wish I had this shop in my backyard. If you haven’t been and want a stylish, world-class, super convenient experience, stop here. Chuck and the rest of the staff has got...

I was in Cincinnati area for my sons wedding and realized that I forgot to bring neckties for the events. A quick Google search brought me to Hellmans Clothiers on Vine St., Downtown Cincinnati.
When my wife and I walked into the store we found ourselves in a veritable candy store of menswear. This store was too amazing and almost too much to take in with just one visit. As we wandered through the store we were scooped up by Chuck, the owner, who helped pick out a tie, then another one, contrasting pocket squares and a great belt for everyday wear.
Before we left the store I saw a jacket that I had to have. While they didn't have my size on the rack, getting one customized and ordered took just a few minutes and it delivered to my house in less than three weeks. It fits like a glove.
Oh, and I forgot to mention... I'm 6'4" and most ties won't fit me. Not to worry, these guys can actually adjust the length of any tie and yes, they fit perfectly.
This is an amazing place and I will definitely be returning every time I visit Cincinnati.
Thanks...
