I have been a U.S. Bank customer for over 10 years, and often stop by this location after work to do standard transactions. The service is usually great. Today, I needed a document notarized so I stopped in thinking that it would be a quick and easy process. I was sent to the notary, Karina (sp?), who was unfriendly and unhelpful. The document I needed notarized was an I-9 for an employer that sits out of state. I made the mistake of signing the doc before I arrived, but she also refused to notarize my Public Acknowledgement Form. Although she wouldn't notarize the docs, she refused to explain or investigate what I could do to make the docs able to be notarized.
After calling my employer's HR dept. and reading Ohio notary guidelines from an official website, I went back and explained that legally there shouldn't be an issue unless there was still something I was misunderstanding. She refused to review the information I presented or to notarize the docs and did not provide further explanation. I asked to speak to the branch manager (Andrew, I believe), and in his office he took the time (about 3 minutes) to explain that banks have to follow different rules when it comes to notarizing docs, including their inability to notarize Public Acknowledgement Forms. Apparently banks can only notarize docs that already have a pre-established area for a seal stamp on the doc that is to be notarized. I-9s (and most federal docs) do not have such areas, so they cannot notarize them. He told me that it was a common issue when people came to the bank, and not to worry. He suggested that I go to a non-bank affiliated org like UPS to get the docs notarized, and helped me find a location where I could get this done. His explanation, while brief, made sense and prevented me from going back and forth multiple times thinking that I had the wrong forms or that I was given misinformation from my employer.
While I was initially upset by the service and treatment I received today, I felt much better after the manager took the time to politely provide clarity. If you need to have something notarized here, I would first ask to speak to the manager to inquire about whether the docs can be notarized before attempting to engage with the notary. I would hope that in the meantime, the management can work with their staff to encourage them to take the time to provide detailed explanations to customers when requests cannot be filled. Again, I was disappointed not in the fact that they could not fulfill my request, but that I was denied insight as to why that was the case. Educating customers will definitely save everyone time and money in...
Read moreOn 10/02 /25 I deposited a check for $2400 through the ATM machine i checked my bank account the next day to see if it had posted instead of my check being posted, it was reversed. They did a reverse deposit. So I called the bank and I spoke with a banker who told me To get the company to write me another check.I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So I asked for a manager, Jennifer the manager at the branch bank also told me at first to have the company to write me another check. It shouldn't be a problem. They can overnight it.This is what she said to me.I told her that I was going to tell everyone about the u s bank affiliates stealing my money out of my bank account . I had to explain to Jennifer the manager for the reasons why I had the check because my perception of me not being able to have a check for $2400 is because I'm Black!! My ID shows up every time and they can see my pictures and this is the second bank that I have had to go through this with. Jennifer claimed it was a third party check. Even though I have guardianship, and power of attorney There was no reason for me to have to go through this. Some of my bills could not get paid because of this i am acrueling interest daily. For my car note. I could see them potentially putting a hold on the check. But they took the check, and I still don't have it. Jennifer said that they mailed me a reprint of the check on the 2nd and once i received it then bring it to them. And they will cash it and she also told me, don't put a check for that amount through the ATM and to come inside . I did not feel like coming in the bank. That's why they have ATM machines. I thought this was a equal opportunity bank and at this point I'm not for sure. I do not recommend at this point Black people to go to this bank. Why should we patronize your bank? Why? Hopefully, on Monday, I will have the reprint check. I think the CO of this bank. Should pay for any of my fees that I have accumulated.Jennifer said she would be happy to pay for fees but she couldn't. Something needs to be done I am very, very disappointed and angry. I'm trying to see what can be done. But I have given my honest opinion. On what has...
Read moreThis is the only bank I have ever dealt with that does not allow ACH transfers to be scheduled from their app. Every time I try it says "I do not have privilege". Extremely confused I did a google search. Sure enough no external transfers allowed in app. You must use the desktop version of the website. Tried that 4 separate times over two days. Crashed each time. The checking account is worthless to me without ACH transfers. I do not have a US Bank in the town I live in. I do not generally use checks or debit cards. Most of my transactions flow through my credit card for added security and purchase protection and then I make an ACH transfer to pay the balance in full each month. I guess I could add a direct deposit to the account, but I have great concerns over constant crashing. I have been with Chase for 16 years now and can't remember a time I had issues with their app or website. I specifically keep Chase as my bank for direct deposit because of how easily and fast they process external transfers (ACH).
One last note. I have actually never encountered this problem ever at another financial institution before. Even at a single location credit union that I had a car loan at. I was required to set up an account when taking out the loan. I felt they were about 20 years behind chase on their website, but they made up for it with pleasant customer service always. They also allowed ACH transfers from Chase to pay the car loan.
Then after my issues, I began searching other reviews of US Bank. Let's just say they are not impressive.
Rant over, not happy, will try and close my account, but I'm sure they will make it way more annoying than it has to be and charge me a fee. I'm just glad I didn't take the time to set up my investments with them like I...
