My dress came in a bit big on the waist&length and needed lots of structure added for my bust. I was worried about the sheer fabric looking wrinkled or being too tight and it ended up being neither!! I also did NOT want to see the boning (which I ended up needing lots of) and that was no problem either. I needed my dress to be capable of real movement since we were eloping in the mountains in Sedona where there was plenty of steep hiking going down. That was considered with all alterations! It was taken care of in a few quick and painless appointments. I was able to bring my mom and sisters which was very important to me. The studio space is insanely gorgeous and spacious for our appointments where there was never another bride in at the same time so you get 100% of the attention. I never felt rushed and always left feeling like my dress was in the right hands! I only wish I had come with my mom sooner and booked an heirloom rework for a robe or rehearsal type of dress.

Before leaving our final fitting- my sister was shown how to bustle my dress and got to practice a few times before the wedding day and even had an in depth video(bless) that showed exactly how to bustle which we needed up being SO thankful for.

I've known for a long time that I wanted to wear my mom's wedding dress when I got married. Once I got engaged, we got it out of the box and the search began. Betsy makes custom dresses and does alterations, but the fact that she highlighted her specialization in vintage reconstruction put me at ease -- trusting someone with your mom's dress is a big deal. I met with her and had a good gut feeling which was completely correct. She worked with me on the vision for the dress. My mom got married in the 80's. The dress fit me perfectly, but I wanted to modernize it a bit. It came out so beautiful. She even was able to take one of the pouffy sleeves and turn it into my wedding clutch! I'm obsessed with Betsy's work, and I can't recommend her enough. It meant a lot to me and my mom to be able to wear this dress for my wedding. Plus, she works with a wedding dress cleaning/preservation service, so I was able to drop off everything post-wedding and get it preserved again, with the extra material in case my sister or any kids wants to use the dress in the future.
