Little King — Local services in City of Beacon

After having what can only be described as a “transcendental experience” from a sandwich (local peppers, house-made ricotta, raddicchio on house-made focaccia) from Little King today-- I thought it’d only be right to provide a more detailed review this time around, as my previous one was relatively brief...

Simply put, Little King is a rarity... even by NYC standards. I’d lived in NYC for 11 years, and never have I seen such a clever melting pot of ideas in one store.

The food program there is exceptionally thoughtful and intentional-- truly a considerate approach to ingredients, flavors, textures, etc. Jeremy and his team take no shortcuts, and it speaks volumes in their food. It’s hard to explain, but there’s this quiet and earnest brand of impressiveness to the display of goods behind the glass upon entering the cafe.

Also, Ken’s curation of design-forward objects always leaves me feeling inspired when I leave the store-- and again, that’s a rare thing. Good design is something that isn’t just phoned in, or done halfway. There’s rich history and theory on the matter and that’s something that’s well-understood in the shop. It’s also something that I greatly appreciate.

What I'm trying to say here is that Little King’s attention to detail is nothing short of an asset to Beacon-- and I consider myself very fortunate to have a place like this to count on each week. Thanks for all the admirable work...

It was cute in there but my sister took her phone out to take a pic of something she liked and one of the staff members rudely stated that there is no photography allowed. She apologized and appreciated how nice it was in there and they just turned around and walked away. Which is fine of course if there was a sign, we didn’t see it. My problem is the fact that the staff had an attitude and then out of curiosity i checked the reviews and noticed that every single bad review, the owner states that it is a fake review and a fake account.And feels the need to state that he is a queer asian which does not have anything to do with the reviews left. This is not a fake account or fake review btw. I understand people have bad days sometimes and lead to an attitude but sometimes you just need to fake a smile...

Little King has exceptional savory vegan options! I make a note to get anything vegan they offer when I visit because everything is super fresh, well-balanced and delicious. So far I've tried their vegan squash white bean sandwiches and sunchoke romesco sandwiches on house-made focaccia. Both have been knockouts. I've also tried a bunch of their grab-and-go vegan items from the cold case including their potato salads, pasta salads, corn salads and kimchi. All have been stellar. They don't always have vegan sandwich options and depending on the day their vegan cold case items can sell quick. A testament to how great their food is.
