So first time vist and definitely won't be our last. Our 1st steps into the restaurant we immediately felt transported to some far off location we where seated by the front window and couldn't feel more cozy and relaxed the atmosphere was perfect the decor was unique and alot of soft wood tones with pillows and soft lighting. The music was instrumental middle Eastern music at just the right volume.
The food was so incredibly delicious. My wife and I are also VEGAN and the options are fantastic. The Hummus is so fresh and flavored perfectly. The pita bread is hot and fresh and the zartar fries are awsome. So I enjoyed the falafel wrap it was a very large portion and was hot and packed full of flavor!! The falafel is so fresh and spiced so well. They literally make you melt with ever bite. The pickled turnips are fantastic and the cucumber is so fresh!! My wife enjoyed the Mujaddara dish it was spiced wonderfully and with the Tahini it made the dish so creamy and savory. She also added falafel which as I said before was again so so fresh and the furthest thing from dry the texture is perfectly fried. We also enjoyed a nice glass of wine. They have a very nice selection, we ended up trying the Manos Andinas MALBEC it was smooth with a rich smokey under tone and not to dry and honestly paird well with dinner.
The staff where very kind and had a great sense of humor. Well versed in the menu and happy to answer any and all questions definitely added to the wonderful experience. You could not ask for a better evening out. Prices where fair.
They mentioned the place can become quite busy and wait times can go up as there are only a few seating options but I tell you now it is well worth any wait time. Take a nice stroll down the streets of Beacon and take in the fresh air and await the deliousnes that...
Read moreI am someone who likes humus. When it's good, I am a very happy person,, but, when its not good - I have to wonder, why even bother? When you have humus at Ziatun, you may wonder: Why have I EVER not heard of this AMAZING humus???? The humus is smooth. To make smooth humus is to take alot of extra time, it is an extra step in the process that not all restaurants take. If you are even thinking of the world of prepackaged humus (not mentioning ANY names) forget that world, that is not humus, that is an eager hopeful on the sidewalk, hoping to get into the party. THIS humus is divine. Creamy, smooth, perfectly balanced, perfectly matched with roasted mediterranean vegetables, beef, lamb, you have many options. I had it with roasted vegetables and a beef skewer, and the blend was...perfect. Why then is my review 5 stars? The one thing that I found that I didn't think worked perfectly (and, I haven't even mentioned the red lentil soup, drizzled generously with olive oil - stop it, STOP IT - I'll NEVER GET OUT OF BEACON IF YOU DON"T!!!) the only thing that I found that I missed was that the beef and lamb (my mother had the lamb) were both a little bit well done. Now, that's just my personal preference, I like the meat a little more medium, I think that it brings out the flavor more, so for me, that was noticeable. That being said, the beef and lamb were good and to be fair, they are cubes and it can be hard to get a proper medium grill on cubes. However, I can tell you that I will be back for the humus. It is simply unmatched, and I live in New York City where humus is around every corner. Get on the metro-north, go to beacon, go to main street, go to Ziatun and tell them that you want the humus because you read this review. Tell me I'm wrong!!!! I...
Read moreSmall, intimate, cozy, date night, secluded, type of spot.
We were craving exactly what Ziatun had to offer and upon finding it right by us, we had to come give it a try. We were a party of 6 and had no idea how tiny this spot was. When we walked in we thought there was no way they would be able to accommodate us without making a reservation.
The staff was extremely nice and fixed up two tiny tables for us and we made it work. We basically ordered everything in the menu and my goodness was it delicious. I love how close and intimate this little hole in the wall is and how delicious the food was. Everything on the menu was delicious not to mention dessert. Baklava is always a must try!
I ordered the falafel wrap and it was delicious! Truthfully it wasn’t so much the food but also the whole experience. We cracked open a few bottles of wine, ordered some appetizers, soups and main courses and we were so good and ready to go. What I loved about it is that our friend couldn’t eat gluten so they made sure that when we ordered the hummus (which comes with the pita bread) they brought him cucumbers and he used them as chips! Everyone was happy! Great spot if you’re vegetarian as well.
Will definitely come back here next time we’re in the area. Great choice! Don’t be disappointed at how small it is there’s literally probably no more than 6 tables and it fits probably no more than 30 people. It’s ok, the food and service...
