I typically go to this west med urgent care site because my pcp is Dr. Hadi (she is amazing) and it is a familiar place. I took a rapid covid test on Sunday and was feeling absolutely terrible, so I decided to go to urgent care in the morning to be seen by a medical provider in order to confirm my positive test and I obtain a doctors note. There is no way I could physically go back to work and do my job within 2-3 days time, and I felt it would be irresponsible for me to go to work that soon after a positive result. When I was seen by Dr. Philip Hubel, his bedside manners were not what I'm used to at west med. I also brought two covid tests that I took prior to the visit to show that they were in fact positive, and he very rudely said, "When did you take those tests because you know that they turn positive after a day automatically..." as if I do not know how to take a rapid covid test. I was completely appalled, as he talked to me like I was an uneducated idiot. Once I told him that I had a positive result by following the directions on the box, he continued to downplay the severity of my symptoms, and continued to say "covid is the new norm." While I am aware that this is the case, I felt the need to explain why I needed the five days off, which is something that I NEVER have to do with my primary care doctor. The continuous back and forth was unprofessional, and it wasn't until I revealed that I was a speech language pathologist who works in direct contact with medically complex children, that he agreed to write me a note for the five excused days. I initially felt profiled, as if I was lying about my symptoms. Once I revealed my profession, his bedside manner improved significantly, and he was nicer to me, which was very odd and not something I'd expect from a doctor. And the test they performed at my visit confirmed my initial positive covid result. I would not go back to this urgent care off of this experience alone. Patients should be treated with dignity and believed without having to explain themselves. I would not recommend and will stick with seeing my PCP when I am unwell. The receptionist and nursing staff, however, were...

WestMed is the definition of healthcare gone wrong! Where to start is impossible, so let's take it step by step. 1: After a family planning visit, bloodwork was drawn which was routine to test for any abnormalities, fine. HOWEVER, the way we as new parents were notified was horrible; an LPN sends only a scantly email saying "lab results are in" that was it. Lab results are in? THANKS not like we didn't how to use your portal! Secondly, an LPN doesn't have the scope of practice to notify patient of lab results only a healthcare provider: MD, DO, or NP. This shows that WestMed doesn't know the capacity to which their staff can function and doesn't provide their patients any room to discuss with a professional their results. 2: The manner in which we were cared for: The actual MD that oversaw our care was the most distant and cold-hearted person you could ask for. The assessment was lackluster and many pertinent questions of care were missed; that if it hadn't been for us to ask the MD those missed question, she would've glossed over them! 3: Billing: Make sure to look over the bills and codes used. They will slip in extra codes for procedures that were not performed, why? To squeeze out any extra dollar they can! 4: Follow-up appointments: Typically after your visit, the receptionist would ask when would the follow-up appointment be, provide you with the days and times available for you to chose right then and there. At WestMed it is the tedious process of: someone from WestMed will call you 5 days later for your appointment between this hour and this hour. No one called, we called WestMed and they have the audacity to say "someone will call you we don't make appointments." Then who does? Because clearly your job title is just "phone responder".
All in all, WestMed is the place to go if you want poor quality care with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am in my 20ās and pregnant with my first child. Let me first say that the customer service of the women at the front desk and the technicians, was impeccable. They were very nice and congratulated me, did a very good job.
I had been very nervous about picking a doctor for my first child. My appointment was rescheduled a few times because of covid and then I decided to take an appointment with a doctor I didnāt have any recommendations for (dr. Wallenstein.)
Not a big deal I went to the appointment, was pretty surprised when she called me on the phone from outside the room for the first 20 minutes of the appointment and then only came in the room for a few minutes. My husband and I decided that after that awkward appointment I needed someone that would be with me during the entire birthing process and that would encourage natural birth. I tried to do some research for a registered nurse midwife that delivers in a hospital. Got an appointment in the same practice, turned out she no longer delivers.
I then asked dr. wallenstein for a recommendation of reputable midwives and was returned with an email to maybe ādo some research.ā
Years in a profession/working with 8-10 other doctors in a practice and nobody has come in contact with a nurse midwife or know of an affiliated hospital in Westchester?
I have never felt more uncomfortable with a doctors office in my entire life. Already nervous about having my first child. I thought an OB would be helpful with whatever kind of birth I would choose and/or helping with resources. Iām sure the other doctors are great. I just wouldnāt recommend dr....
