I actually went to a restaurant in the mall called Quaker Steak and Lube. The barbecued chicken wings were better than any chicken wings I have ever had. I won't tell a lie, Quaker Steak and Lube is Number 1 in my book. The onion rings were huge, fresh, crispy and hot, right out of the deep fryer. The barbecue sauce was delicious.
As far as customer service, from my experience, there was a young white waitress, who saw me waiting for a long period of time and could have taken my order. Even though she was waiting on other people seated at a table, after she finished with them, she could have said something like we will be with you shortly. She sat her behind down and acted like I wasn't present. I proceeded to the bar to ask for assistance. The bartender had people in her area and apparently served drinks only. She said that she didn't take food orders and they were short staffed. However, the only person available was the young white waitress sitting and doing nothing.
It seems to me when you are short staffed, you should have been taught to pitch in where you're needed. The young white girl should have been trained with taking orders to go as well as taking orders and seating customers. The other guy was cleaning off tables. The white waitress could have let him know that he had a customer in the lobby.
Finally, the guy stopped cleaning tables long enough to look around and see that he had a customer . I asked him, if I being black, was welcomed in this restaurant. When I first entered, there were several white customers (women)that sneered their noses up at me. The guy said lowly that I was welcomed. I told him that this was my second time coming to the Quaker restaurant, and felt racism. White people were seated comfortably in booths, and I had to ask to change locations the first time I came, where I could be seated comfortably. This was my second time at the Quaker Steak and Lube. I saw other black people in the restaurant and they apparently love coming to the restaurant.
I got my food and was so hungry that I ate it in my car. I gave the last waitress a $10 tip. If it wasn't for the food being so good, I would not go back. There was a discount on the chicken wings. I got a real deal. I'm not ever going back to eat inside and tip anyone again. Since I love chicken wings, I just might order the food prior to...
Read moreHad to go to 3 stores at Northgate Mall: Ultra, Marshall's, and Michael's. I love going to Ultra. The store is so clean, well lighted, plenty of Associates to help you, selections galore, and always getting in new things. They are going to start carrying the Wet and Wild collection, which I love. Found everything I needed and didn't break the bank. Their prices are very reasonable. Plus, they offer makeovers and have a salon on the premises. Terrific store. I have never been to this particular Marshalls store before and was not disappointed. Although the store is not huge, it has a wide variety of products and the pricing is fair. I would shop this store again. My experience at Michaels was not the best. I had a picture that needed to be rematted and reframed. The department was grossly understaffed and the computer equipment was not working. It took almost 2 hours to get the final measurements done and I am not 100% certain that it's going to turn out right. Also, even with a 70% discount, the price seemed a bit steep. I have had things framed at this store before and never had any problems or took so much time. The pricing has always been appropriate. We'll just chalk it up to a bad day for them. Otherwise, I love shopping at this store. I am a weekly customer and rarely if ever have...
Read moreIt really hurts me to say I don't think this mall will be around much longer. Growing up this was the place to be. There were so many stores, and now there's not much of anything left. I know the mall still makes money. Since it owns the properties surrounding the actual mall but I really wish the owners would do something "different", with the space. To try to keep it around. I've always thought it'd be cool to have a bunch of boutiques, and small business owners inside the mall. Although, that'd mean the owners would likely have to reduce the rent quite a bit. To make it affordable. Also, if the mall hosted certain events it'd help attract people. It used to do that all the time. I really hope I'm wrong and it doesn't close but most malls are closing down. If Northgate doesn't make a move to do something different setting it a part from the other failed malls around it will likely be next. The mall isn't in bad shape, though. It's always clean INSIDE. When I've been there. With the exception to the outside areas especially around Sears. People dump tires, mattresses, and other unwanted junk back their. The outside area between sears, and where the movie theater used to be is by far the...
