I used Besco Jewelers to get my now wife her engagement ring as well as her wedding band. I came to Besco Jewelers looking to get an engagement ring that was essentially the same design as a Tiffany's ring that my wife loved, and boy did Brett deliver. I don't think I could have gotten a better ring anywhere, including the one from Tiffany's, and it was exactly the way I wanted it. I told Brett the design and showed him the ring I was basing it off of, and he sent me what he came up with, letting me change aspects of the design and get it to how I wanted it, refining it multiple times. Brett also walked me through the differences in diamonds and metals so I could make an informed decision. I chose the characteristics that I wanted the diamond to have, and Brett ordered three that each had similar characteristics to what I chose, let me inspect them, and showed me why they had the ratings that they had so that I could choose the one that I wanted. Everything was clear and up front, and I was involved every step of the way. By the end of the process, the ring that I got was less than half of the cost of the Tiffany's ring I based it off of, including having the exact same size diamond, and in our eyes, a better ring.
Fast forward about 10 months later, and me and my wife both decide that we love the engagement ring so much, and because of the design of it we wanted a wedding band that curved around the diamond, that we would use Besco Jeweler's for the wedding band as well. We were over in North Carolina and all it took was a couple of phone calls and an email, and we had exactly what we wanted without even meeting in person. A couple days later, about 3 weeks before the wedding, my wife dropped the engagement ring on the bathroom floor, and the diamond popped out, which we suspect is because a day beforehand we had gone to a jewelry store to get it cleaned and they said they had "tested" the prongs, slightly moving the diamond out of place. We immediately called Brett and told him what had happened. He was immensely helpful, sent us a FedEx Overnight label and we sent the ring to him to get it fixed, without us even having to pay a dime. Both the engagement ring and wedding band came at the same time, well in time for the wedding, and they fit so well, they look like they were made together.
In all, I would highly recommend Besco Jeweler's for any jewelry need you may have. I don't think you can get a better value anywhere, the customer service is amazing, and the steps he goes through to make sure you are getting exactly what you want are unparalleled from anywhere that I've seen. I am extremely lucky that I stumbled upon him in my search for a ring. In the future, I don't think that we are every going to go anywhere else to...
Read moreMy then-boyfriend and I, now fiancé, chose Besco Custom Jewelers to custom make my engagement ring after seeing rave reviews of this business online. You may have taken notice that Besco boasts a perfect five-star rating on Google—and it is wholeheartedly deserved and earned. I could not have had my expectations further exceeded, nor could I have walked away from this experience more satisfied and pleased with both the quality and care of workmanship and customer service. Brett, the designer and craftsman behind our ring, was a delight to communicate and work with overall. He was always prompt with his replies to us and incredibly communicative and helpful during our correspondence. We paid a deposit of our ring’s total price to have a CAD mocked up, and then were soon able to visit his office. He was able to show us a 3D printed prototype of what our ring should generally look like, and ensured it would fit me. We would later provide him a loose stone to place that we sourced ourselves, which he verified to be its corresponding IGI on our behalf. I had concerns about what an engagement ring should be like for me, as I have a birth defect that significantly deformed my left hand. This has resulted in an unusually slim finger size of 2.75, as well as inter-finger webbing that comes all the way up to my knuckle. We requested that the setting be made to sit low-profile, flush to the skin, and for the band to have a rounded fit for my comfort. Brett did a phenomenal job at ensuring my ring would be comfortable and secure on my finger and I have found it very pleasant to wear. I have been blown away by the quality of this ring’s make. We requested a very, very simple and no-frills kind of setting, and compared to the intricate and delicate works featured in his portfolio, it pales in complexity. However, there was just as much attention paid to my ring’s detail as a more ornate ring would. The seams from soldering are imperceptible—gold meets gold seamlessly. The symmetry throughout all features of the ring is perfect, and the claw prongs sit flush against the stone with no crookedness or unevenness. It is truly flawless, and perfectly elegant. The pricing was beyond fair and blew all competitions out of the water. He had the ring appraised for us so that we could have it insured, and provided a beautiful wooden ring box for it to be held in during the proposal. Brett is a phenomenal man to work with. Incredibly magnanimous, as well as an exceptionally talented and experienced artisan. I have him to thank for making my engagement so beautiful and I could not more heartily endorse him...
Read moreMy fiancée has already written a review about Besco Custom Jewelers, but as the buyer, I wanted to add my own experience. I have not seen a business as old as Brett's (40+ years!) to boast a perfect five star rating, but after experiencing Besco's service, I immediately understood why. Brett is the real deal and the finest example of jewelry craftsmanship you can receive. He was exceptionally communicative throughout the entire process, sharing through email, and in-person, screenshots of the full design process. I came with a specific ask, which was a low-profile ring designed to fit my then girlfriend's very small finger. I procured a proportionally large lab-grown stone and wasn't sure how it would fit on her hand without being an obstruction in her day-to-day life. Brett gave me realistic expectations for what could physically be done, but ended up delivering far beyond those expectations. He also never made any unwelcome statements about our needs, and was easy to talk to throughout. In the end, the finished ring is excellent. It is both structurally sound, unassumingly low profile and the perfect setting for the stone. My photo does not do it justice. Nothing went wrong in my experience, but I feel certain that if any issues did come up, Brett would work to correct it. He said we could come in for any maintenance needed on the ring, or for any repairs should they be needed. However, I didn't expect I'd need to, as his handiwork spoke for itself. I might add that I was still a teenager during this entire process, but he never once took advantage of my naivety. In fact, the ring ended up costing far below the value for his handiwork and expertise, to the point I would say I was undercharged. During a visit where he showed me the CAD he had made for our ring, I caught a glimpse of an incredibly ornate anniversary gift he was making for his wife, and was genuinely floored by the extensive detail and design. It was far more intricate than the ring I wanted made, and showed how far his ability goes after decades of making jewelry. His website showcases his ability further. He seems to take pride in being able to fulfill any vision a customer brings in. Avoid big box jewelry stores that take advantage of their customers, and support craftsmanship and artistry at Besco Custom Jewelers! I would recommend everybody with a jewelry need to come here, even if you have to fly in from Qatar. Brett is better than the reviews claim, he...
