Redstone Apartments — Local services in College Station

I will never again live at an apartment complex owned by this management and neither should you. Here's why- First, I was told my non-smoking apartment was ready for move in. Upon arrival, there were dishes in the dishwasher, loads of cool whip containers in the cabinets and pantry, and silverware in the drawers. The apartment was not vacuumed, the bathroom and kitchen not cleaned, and to top it all off it REEKED of smoke. Let's just say it took two days and $60 worth of cleaning products to get the place livable. That does not cover the smoke smell. I had to buy two air purifiers to get the stench out. It took 2 months before I could fall asleep without sneezing. Did I make all of this information known to management? Of course, I filled it all out on my move in sheet. Did they offer any sort of apology or reimbursement? Of course not! I could not get out of this apartment quick enough. Upon my move out, I cleaned my apartment. I did not want the next tenant to receive the same treatment as I did. I probably spent about 3 hours cleaning the apartment for my move out. I was looking forward to receiving my deposit back. Instead, I received a $75 bill for not wiping the baseboards down and not cleaning the ceiling fan. I challenged it of course. But these people refuse to talk to you on the phone, only fax. Needless to say, they did not see my point of view and now I owe the money or they send debt collectors after me. There is not enough bad things I could say about this apartment and it's management. The apartments are so poorly built and run down. The floors are not level, what I mean is nothing in the kitchen that sits on the floor is level. This means the door on the refrigerator doesn't close or open correctly. Yes we already adjusted the feet on the refrigerator but not enough adjustment. The table and the dish washer and the door to the washer and dryer are always out of line. The apartment shifts so badly that the doors and Windows cannot close correctly. I think the most annoying part is there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. At first I didn't think this was that important, but unless you are okay with taking a shower with the window open you will either have to steam up the rest off the apartment with the door open and your roommate watching or you could close the floor and deal with the mold that accumulates on the ceiling. Even if you don't have to deal with the mold in the bathroom there is still mold in the walls because the apartments are prone to flooding and they can't or don't replace the drywall. Oh and last but not least the pool never works and crime is horrible here. Car broken into twice! So in conclusion, if you like dirty, moldy, unsafe, housing with very expensive electricity but nice staff then Redstone is the place for you. Unfortunately I have to give Redstone on Barthelow 1 star strictly because of the way their parent company DTI Investments handles business. I have seen the parent company of apartment complexes ruin what was once a thriving location before and it looks like this one is no different. Let’s start with a few positives, quick maintenance, presentable grounds, although much nicer at entrance than overall, secure convenient location, and friendly office staff. Despite a few misunderstandings my time living there was enjoyable. Unfortunately at move out was where things went south. I had the apartment professionally cleaned and carpet treated and took pictures of the clean apartment both when I moved in and moved out in to a house that I bought. DTI Investments proceeded to try and charge me 300 plus dollars in nothing more than cleaning fees. I spent a week going back and forth with them over email and when I pointed out all the inconsistencies in their practices and claims they shut down and then several months later referred me to a collection agency. Once I provided my evidence to the agency they ceased. Just be careful, DTI Investments will nickel and dime you as much as they can, and it’s a shame the staff at Redstone have no choice but to go along with...
