First time for me to visit Hobby Lobby. It wasn't what I expected at all. It seems they cater more to pre-made nick nacks and home decor. If you you like making up your own silk flower arrangements then this is your store. I like to paint and draw pictures as a hobby, but they didn't have as much in that department as I would have liked. They carry a Master's Touch line of oil paints and art supplies from China that I knew nothing about so I didn't buy it. I typically buy Grumbacher because they are superior paints. You can buy the grumbacher paints individually but not in sets. Sets are an economical way of buying your most commonly used colors or getting starter sets for students that want to step up to better quality supplies in order to compete. The lack of sets from Grumbacher shows me they only want to move their own brand for margins of profit instead of serve the artist community. If the Grumbacher supplies aren't priced to move and many colors are almost gone or need re-ordering, it makes you wonder how long they have sat there. Ever try to mix up a color that sat too long in a tube? This didn't leave me with a good impression. For a store named for hobbies, I didn't see much of that supported. I looked for ceramic supplies like clay and glazes or maybe a starter kiln to get people going in that direction and there is absolutely nothing in that endevor. For an organization that is in the news expressing values, I expected more. Serving their fellow hobbiest is what I imagined. They should rename the store to better describe their mission. This is why Amazon will be the goto for art supplies because retailers won't step up and put the supplies on the shelves. The customer is not served when you only stock the fast moving supplies. BUT since they have a good supply of artist brushes I rated them 4 stars Instead of 3. I'll check back in 6 months to see if they have repented of profiteering and gone back to meeting the needs...
Read moreGot some last minute Christmas shopping done and some decorations and noise makers for New Years. Super clean store, organized and well laid out. Staff members that I had interactions with were extremely helpful and nice.
One of the gifts I had gotten (Electronic Robotic toy) had a bad wire/connection so I had to return/exchange it. They did not have the toy in stock but were able to special order it. I didn't have the original receipt (brought a different receipt from another purchase accidentally) and had made the purchase with my wife's credit card who was not there during the return. They were able to refund my purchase and give me a Hobby Lobby gift card for the same amount for the toy so I could repurchase it when I came back in. What I had expected to be a simple/quick exchange was definitely not, but the staff were so helpful and understanding and made everything work out for the best. Understandably these things happen and can be frustrating, but the staff were awesome and everything worked out just fine. The toy came back in stock just 2 days later and everything was good.
Solid place, staff, selection and easy to maneuver through. Fun store, for adults and kids!...
Read moreI've always liked hobby lobby but after what happened to me this evening, I won't be back. I went in to buy some artificial flowers, found one that I liked but the price tag was ripped off. I looked at the other ones and they were the same. I went to the cashier to see if they could tell me and they were very polite and told me they needed the manager to find out. She came out, I followed her to the aisle and she told me none of them had prices. I told her, unfortunately not, I had checked too. She then gets even more attitude and tells me in like the most bothered rude tone, "well you're going to have to give me a minute, I'm going to have to go all the way to the back to find out. It will probably take me 10 mins" and went to storm off. I told her if it was that much of a problem, to not even worry about it, put my other items down and left. I can not believe someone so rude would be a manager. I was sweet and polite to her and it's not my fault their product doesn't have priced tags. I'll go shop at...
