Going through other reviews, it seems the “company” argues with any negative feedback, so I’m interested in the response here. Well it was my birthday recently. My boyfriend reserved two jet skis for 30 mins. When we got there, they were very busy and said that the “2x30” meant one for 60 mins. The lady at the desk said their next available for 2 separate was at 4pm (this was 1pm that we were there). When we asked about the 4pm, she got visibly irritated and said that she would have to put us on standby and we wouldn’t get to ride that day. Fine, we went on the shared jet ski because we wanted to try to enjoy the day. The jet ski guide said if we get too close to land, the jet ski would slow down until we moved away. Otherwise, we were sent out with some basic instruction to move forward and back. Our jet ski about 40 mins in started going 4mph near the boats under the bridge. We thought “no worries, we will just move a little away or towards the middle back where it’s calm and get it back.” We were wrong. We moved back towards the middle, the jet ski kept kicking forward and stopping over and over. We didn’t want to get hurt, so we drove towards the dock, passing other jet skis that were working just fine (we went 4mph the entire time). When we got back, the guide said to turn it off and on and then drive out to the complete middle where the speed boats were. Our time was almost up at this point. So he says he’s going to show us and see what’s going on. We waited 5-10 mins for him to give instructions to a small group and answer his phone that was blowing up. We were thinking.. is he going to give us more time or something? No. He just wanted to show off in front of a group of girls that he could ride it out there all fast and whip around. He came back with it and says “works fine.” Well, that doesn’t help me now, does it? Thanks for wasting more of my birthday. It was bad enough that the thing wouldn’t go faster than 4mph and the first thing he says is turn it off and on again. No one said that was something we may have to do. Terrible customer service (I’m being generous by...
Read moreMy family had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience with this jet ski company in San Diego — a city known for its diversity and tourism. We were celebrating my dad’s birthday and were excited to take him out on the water. But shockingly, they were denying him the chance to ride a jet ski simply because he only speaks Spanish.
Even though we had a translator with us who clearly and accurately could explain all the safety instructions and how to operate the jet ski, the staff was still refusing to let him participate. There was no effort to work with us or find a solution. They simply said, “He has to speak English,” and that was that. It is a humiliating experience for someone to have to be disrespected like that, especially on what was supposed to be a special day for him. We were lucky enough that my sister advocated for them and did not take no for answer but I just wonder how often this happens to other families who may not have an advocate for them.
In a tourist-driven city like San Diego, this kind of language-based discrimination is unacceptable. Not every visitor or resident speaks English — nor should that automatically disqualify someone from enjoying an experience, especially when communication is being handled through a capable translator.
This company clearly lacks cultural sensitivity and flexibility. If you’re looking for a fun, inclusive experience on the water — look elsewhere.
In Response to your insurance policy: If your current insurance provider requires English proficiency with no room for reasonable accommodation, perhaps it’s time to reevaluate your coverage and seek out insurers that allow for inclusive, safe participation from non-English speakers. San Diego is an international tourist destination with a large Spanish-speaking population. Having a more culturally inclusive policy isn’t just good business — it reflects the values of respect, accessibility, and hospitality that every tourism-based company should strive for.
That’s a choice your company makes, and I encourage you to reconsider how that reflects on...
Read moreLocation was fantastic skies were brand new so the location for riding was amazing, I only wish the CK in girl matched up w the other great attributes this business provides. I had gone a day earlier to scout the spot because we saw them as we were riding bikes along the boardwalk. The girl that day was so welcoming and actually interested in having us as customers. This was a great sign and really refreshing to have a great customer employee interaction 👍 kudos to that part of the team. As a business owner myself I was impressed… until the next day when we came obviously excited to be going to ride we encountered an individual behind the desk who didn’t quite match the company in my experience. She was a bit dismissive and didn’t greet us, told not asked but told us, to wait while she attended another customer who seemed like we’re already finished w there transaction as they were already on there bike riding off while she yelled at them to stop and demanded other information possibly….Ok then when she got back to us she specifically would give long awkward pauses before answering any questions no eye contact or sign we were even welcome. Only referring to what we had to do instead of attempting to gain the business. If i didn’t have my son with me and family from Europe in toe already to go I would have absolutely went elsewhere. She then reacted w facial expressions acted like I was making a huge mistake turning down the accident/ damage protection and forgot to get my licence once we were already getting on the bikes and asked her coworker to have me bring it to her. Which thank goodness the coworker saw this as not appropriate and brought it to her himself, he was great by the way and was very accommodating in explaining the regulations and safety 👍In short other than the Girl checking us in the staff was fantastic and the skies and location were...
