Coronado inn is what appears to be a quaint and quiet inn on the surface, but it's barely able to qualify as room and board especially being that Coronado island is a destination location in California during the travel and tourism season. The rooms are full of mildew and mold in many areas. There is dirt and hair all throughout the room, especially the bathroom. Also the bathroom floor was soft and slanted to the point where if you stepped in certain places you would stumble and almost fall until you were aware if the recess in that spot. The toilet was a very small model and was awkward to use. The water in the shower would go from hot to cold and back to hot throught the entire shower if you dared taking one next to the moldy window. It was bad enough that I had tonsurface clean the bathroom myself or I wasnt comfortable showering there. I took a damp cloth and wiped the top of the tank for the toilet, as well as the arms of the toiletpaper holder ( just because they looked so dirty that I couldnt let my wife see them that way) and my cloth was dark brown almost black just from the surface dirt that easily wiped away. There are no vending services onsite what so ever aside from a few sodas in a fridge at the office. The ice machine is behind a locked door that your keys are never programmed to open. The television remotes dont work and the tv's are single button units so you have to learn the sequence for that on button if you want to control things other then off/on. Also, oddly enough, they serve breakfast on some makeshift cabinets next to the pool which feels very grimy and just gross. Along with that, the company incorrectly informed us of their billing practices and caused an unexpected hold and charge on our acct, which was inconvenient due to normal financial industry practices that basically locked that card all week. Its very difficult to get small issues corrected or remedied by the staff, as they seemingly had various reasons why they couldnt leave the desk or couldnt provide this and that. We visit the island annually and without this issue being addressed and rectified, we certainly won't stay with Coronado Inn on...
Read moreThe short version: AVOID THIS HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE. This place forced me to sleep outside after a long flight from the east coast, and ended up screwing me over at the end. I would not recommend this place to anyone who places any shred of value in customer service.
The king version: Take me as a lesson in being too patient. I was traveling on orders and had a late flight, which I had communicated to the staff. I flew in at 1 in the morning and arrived to the hotel at about 2 to find the front desk was not staffed. Fine, that’s not really a problem, they left a lockbox outside with my name on it, presumably with the key to my room. Unfortunately, nobody had the idea to text or email me a code. I called the on call staff phone around 20-30 times and nobody picks up. I’m not even sure if this on call phone exists, or if the staff is too unprofessional to carry it with them at home despite knowing that a late check in is expected. This is what you pay for when you book the cheapest hotel in Coronado. I ended up sleeping in my car that night. The sign on the front desk said they would re open at 7am, so I woke up at 7 and waited an extra 30 minutes for the staff to arrive late. They offered to comp me for the night, and offered free parking during my stay. Despite my best judgement, I decided to spend the rest of my stay here. Everyone told me I was crazy and should find a new hotel, but I assumed because they dropped the ball so hard that maybe they would make up for it somehow. Nope. The day I checked out, I see a charge for the car parking on the bill. The lady tells me there is nothing she can do despite my reminder that this place screwed me over after my late arrival. I should have taken my money elsewhere the minute I was unable to get in touch with...
Read moreSo it looks like it's been months even over a year to replace, repair, and renovate this place to what it should be and the very least to what management claims to have done. I can say that location is great, eateries nearby even walking distance. Staff were all very friendly, that's the highlight of this place. It's a quaint little place that has some nice qualities but definitely requires some TLC! I had two rooms reserved side by side, 9 & 10, I reported all my concerns to the staff who said she would forward to the manager, not that he would get back to me. That is not what I want to hear! And based on the responses of management, or lack thereof, it doesn't appear to be comforting or taking care of the matter to compensate the customer other than just apologizing, if that's all it was. Run the water for a minimum of 10 min just to get hot water. That doesn't guarantee it either you might have to become a detective and figure out that they hooked up the water line to the wrong facet only to find out half hour later that the cold is hot and hot cold! Each room had a different issue. Neither room is mopped. Swepted or vacuumed but no mopping. Socks will be black! One room had complications with air/heat. Second night tv not operating properly, no video.
This is definitely a place that wants to be of high caliber but with low quality service and amenities. With these prices, at the very least they should have a continental breakfast and free parking! I've never experienced a manager not getting back with me promptly to remedy my situation upon knowing it. I'm ready to check out and nobody has addressed my concerns or compensated me for them. These are legitimate concerns. People be ware! Much more regarding cosmetics, too...
