Back in 1988, a combination of a high tide and storm washed a huge amount of kelp up onto the beaches. A City of Coronado employee, Armando Moreno, was tasked with cleaning it up. Armando decided to bury it in the sand and add ice plant to the top of it to create a series of letters - CORONADO. This took place over a two-year process. The more clear one is the "Coronado". The one next to that spells something starting with a B r........ the rest I can't make out. And the last one is more difficult to make out what it it says.
