The Hotel del Coronado is a stunning blend of history, luxury, and coastal charm. Opened in 1888, this iconic landmark has hosted presidents, royalty, and Hollywood stars, making it one of California's most storied hotels. Its distinctive Victorian architecture and red-roofed turrets make it instantly recognizable, and it’s a National Historic Landmark. The Del, as it’s affectionately called, was famously featured in the classic 1959 film Some Like It Hot, starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon. Beyond its history, the hotel offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, with its pristine beach consistently ranked as one of the best in the United States. Whether you’re staying overnight, enjoying a meal at one of its top-notch restaurants, or simply exploring the grounds, the Hotel del Coronado is an unforgettable experience that combines timeless elegance with seaside relaxation. A true gem of San Diego!

The Del is undeniably beautiful and sits in a perfect location. It’s an iconic destination. That said, the guest rooms seem small and a bit dated, with small bathrooms that don’t quite match the premium price point. During my stay, a shuttle service brought guests from the Hilton Bayfront to the amenity areas. The over crowded pool made the experience less enjoyable- messy, overcrowded, with no towels for guests and servers that worked really hard to keep up with the crowd. Food and beverage, while really good, was overpriced. $8 for a Coke, $14 for beer and $34 for a fish sandwich.

In short, a gorgeous hotel in a beautiful location, but the value and experience didn’t quite live up to the cost, especially...

They start to charge parking fee $75 valet parking and $59 per night for self parking so we have spent two nights and had to pay at least hundred bucks just for parking only. I chatted with front desk but didnt get a satisfy answer from them. There are a lot of complaints on line and you can do some research yourself before...
