On a recent trip to California, I had the pleasure of visiting a taco spot known for its San Diego-style offerings. My experience there left me with plenty to rave about, but also a couple of small points for improvement. Here’s the breakdown:
The Food (5/5) I tried two tacos during my visit: a swordfish taco and a spicy chicken taco, both prepared in authentic San Diego style. These were nothing short of amazing. The swordfish taco was fresh and flavorful, with a perfect balance of seasoning that highlighted the fish without overpowering it. The spicy chicken taco had just the right amount of kick, with bold flavors that made each bite exciting.
What set these tacos apart was the addition of ranch dressing. While it might sound unconventional, the ranch complemented and enhanced the flavors beautifully, adding a creamy texture that tied everything together. Each taco felt thoughtfully constructed, with high-quality ingredients and a mastery of flavor balance.
The Service (4/5) The service, while decent, could have been a bit more polished. When we arrived, the hostess informed us there would be a 30-minute wait for outdoor seating. However, after some inquiry, I learned there was another outdoor section that she could open for us right away. While this oversight didn’t ruin the experience, it’s something that could have been avoided if the hostess had proactively offered all available seating options upfront.
The Atmosphere (4/5) The atmosphere was laid-back and inviting, perfect for a casual taco outing. While it didn’t quite reach the same “wow factor” as the food, it was enjoyable overall. The outdoor seating area we eventually moved to had a great vibe, with a pleasant California breeze that made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Additional Perks One standout feature of this place is their Taco Tuesday discounts. It’s a great incentive for taco lovers to indulge midweek without breaking the bank. If the quality remains consistent with what I experienced, this deal is worth planning your visit around.
Final Verdict This taco spot is a must-visit for anyone craving bold, flavorful San Diego-style tacos. The food is the star of the show, and I’ll absolutely be back to try more of their menu. While the service and atmosphere had room for minor improvement, they didn’t detract significantly from the overall experience.
Final Rating: Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Overall: 4.5/5

Read moreAvoid if you are from the Latino community! This place is very beautiful but unfortunately we were victims of hate towards Latinos.
We were there on April 7th and we were highly recommended to go to Coronado for its beautiful beaches. Then we decided to rest and have a drink before continuing on our way.
Unfortunately, we didn't know that smoking vapor devices called vypes was not allowed outdoors, even though we asked the waitress and she never mentioned anything about it being prohibited in all of Coronado. A friend took a puff and two older people from the next table started yelling at us despite our apologies. They were very rude and made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Even though we apologized, they complained to the waitress, who went to the manager to file the complaint and then returned to the next table to tell them that we were no longer allowed to return to the establishment.
After this, the waitress approached us and, with a rather serious tone (very different from the beginning), finally confirmed that electronic devices could not be smoked; question that she didn’t answer at the beginning.
The feeling of this situation is that both, the place and the people we met there, do not like Latin people because they were too rude. It is a shame because I understand that a significant part of San Diego's economy is due to tourism, but apparently the people we encountered do not think the same.
Please, if you are from the Latin community, avoid this place. In addition to this, we ordered a beer that literally tasted like chicken...the quality of the drinks was bad, although I must mention that at first the waitress was very kind.
The feeling that visiting this place left me with is that there are probably people who do not tolerate the Latin and/or Mexican community...it is sad that in 2023 in the US there is an...
Read moreWe had always loved this restaurant in the past. They remodeled and it looks pretty but completely lost its charm. Our service was terrible. Server was very kind but either new or was over-sat tables. He was polite when we saw him however.
When we asked for pepper for salads, he put a "shaker" on the table. No fresh ground pepper at a seafood house? Salad tasted good. Dinner arrived, served by a food runner I guess. My husbands fish was VERY DRY and had purple mashed potatoes but the after taste wasn't right. We wanted to ask the server to please show the chef or manager and give him a properly cooked piece of fish. HE NEVER CAME BY OUR TABLE AGAIN and the place is not that big. We waited and waited, all of our glasses were empty until I had to "flag down" a busboy (and I think it's rude to do that but it was the only way to get water)... my husband hadn't eaten since 10am so he was very hungry and just ate the overcooked fish but not the potatoes. After we were done the server FINALLY showed up and said with a smile, " is everything great?" My husband was furious. We were celebrating a birthday which put a damper on the evening. He realized we were not pleased but it was too late so he offered us free coffee. Then they brought a piece of MUD PIE out for his birthday and it was so solid like a rock frozen he couldn't eat it for 10 minutes... my husband would have ordered dessert but he didn't ever ask us if we would like anything! At that point we just wanted to get out of there. He was going to speak to the manager but we didnt want to embarrass his son. This place was a goto FAVORITE for.many years with the best Prime Rib... they don't even serve that anymore. The entire experience was negative. Will not go back... over rated, over priced....
